I find "period" spanking interesting and have looked specifically for
spanking erotica or stories done in Victorian times ( or any time around
era). There doesn't seem to be much out there. The few things that I
found haven't been that interesting because they weren't very graphic
or sexual. I did enjoy reading your story though and would appreciate
if you could direct me to any other sources of period spanking, if you
know of any.

Abel wrote one of my all-time favorite Victorian stories called Sir Clive's
Memoirs. You can find it at: http://uk.geocities.com/abel1234uk/ It isn't
overtly sexual though, but fairly graphic, if my memory serves me correctly.

Be sure to write him if you like it. He gets cranky when his ego is not
properly fed. ;-) And you don't want that, *trust* me... <veg>

Kate, thanx for the reference to Abel's story. I looked it up and read
it and liked it. I did send him a little thank you note...don't want
any cranky story writers. Lol

Domino, no I haven't read the story you mentioned, but I'll try and
find it. Is there an easy way to find a story that was posted before?
I'm still very new here and still figuring out how things work.

With apologies to Georgette Heyer, whose regency novels are a great
favourite of mine and on which I unashamedly modelled mine :

Matters continued in the usual vein for several days thereafter, with
neither My Lord nor My Lady referring to the incident again, although
Lady Annabel regarded her husband with a new respect, whilst My Lord
on his part determined that in future no more than a se'ennight would
lapse between My Lady's chastisements. Such a beautiful posterior was
destined to carry the marks of My Lord Robert's devotion. Yet, this
decision not withstanding, the days rolled by, a party here, a
luncheon there, tete-a-tetes with friends and tea-parties with
acquaintances.

To do her justice, Lady Annabel was quite determined to give her
husband no cause to find fault with her, for although the incident
sparked off some pleasant feelings, she could not but help remember
the pain she had endured. It chanced however that on the Friday
following, My Lady was in a temper. Her seamstress had failed to
complete a gown she particularly required that day, and an anticipated
pleasant morning's ride in the Park had resulted in a thorough
drenching as the result of an unexpected shower of rain. This was
surely enough to try the patience of any saint, but on her return home
Lady Annabel was greeted with a series of catastrophes. The footman
was tardy in opening the door, and Charles the butler, less than
solicitous in assisting her out of her wet cloak, whilst her maid
Jenny kept My Lady waiting for a good five minutes, and on her arrival
was impertinent enough to inform 'Lady Annabel that My Lord requested
the pleasure of her company when My Lady had finished dressing.

"Well, fiddlesticks," came My Lady's prompt reply," for my toilet will
take at least an hour." She paused for an instant, and rang for a
footman. Jenny helped My Lady out of her wet raiment and into a
silken robe, and was trying to restore some order to her curls, when
the footman knocked. "Enter," snapped My Lady Annabel. "Do you find
his Lordship, and convey my regrets," she said. "Say - oh tell him
to go to the blazes and I shall see him when I choose and not when I
am commanded to." The footman and Jenny gazed at her aghast. "But My
Lady," protested the footman. "Vile worm," hissed Annabel, stamping
her foot. "Obey this instant," and with that boxed that poor worthy's
ears soundly, as he made for the door and departed. "Well," she
turned to Jenny, "cease your vulgar gaping, girl, and get about your
work," and so saying, dealt poor Jenny two ringing slaps across her
cheeks. Struggling to stem her tears, Young Jenny proceeded to
collect her Mistress's damp clothing and continued her battle with the
curls. It was just as the last tangle was teased out that, without so
much as a knock, the door to My Lady's boudoir gently swung open.

"Oh, My Lord," whispered Jenny as she bobbed a curtsey. The Earl of
Merivale seemed to tower over everything, and his keen eyes spied the
marks on Jenny's cheeks. "Thank you, girl," he acknowledged. "That
will be all for the present. You may leave your mistress quite safe
in my hands. Yes," he said grimly, "quite safe." With a quick bob
Jenny fled the room, and my lord locked the door after her. Lady
Annabel sat unmoving, looking at him in some trepidation in the glass.
His face, though set seemed yet not so forbidding, and she turned to
him. "My Lord," she started, "I am not accustomed to being
incarcerated in my own quarters. Pray what is the meaning of this?"
She tossed her head and turned from him, "Leave this instant." "Well,
my dear," drawled the Earl, "I shall depart shortly, however I fear
some unpleasant business has come up that you should be apprised of."
He paused, and seated himself in a low chair clasping his hands before
him, and quite deliberately waited until Lady Annabel, who had calmed
down by now, found she could bear it no longer and finally turned
towards him again. "Well, I am all ears," she stated, wondering if he
knew of her behaviour of which she was by now ashamed.

"The fact is, my dear," continued my Lord, "that I wished to apprise
you of certain, shall we say alterations, in the household." The Earl
gazed pensively on his wife, who made a pretty picture, with wet curls
and flowing robe. "I received a letter from the wife of my old
headmaster. She has been widowed these past three years, and is
reduced to penury. In short she seeks a position of housekeeper, and
begs me to recommend to her of any of our acquaintances we know to be
in need of one." Lord Robert beamed on his wife, and she in turn
smiled nervously - he knew aught of what had gone before. She
struggled to concentrate on what the Earl was saying. "Twas then, my
dear I bethought me of you. Tis all very well letting you have the
management of this small house, but when
we open Merivale Hall, I do not wish you to shoulder all the care of a
mansion of that size. So with this in mind, I have written to Mrs
Hill, and await only your approval to make her a firm offer for the
position." "Oh, er, certainly my Lord," stammered his wife. "If you
desire it, then so do I, I'm sure."
"Splendid," rejoined Lord Robert, and Annabel gave a silent sigh of
relief, as Lord Robert made to rise. "Ah, but I am not yet done,"
rejoined the Earl with a start. Again a pause. "You see, my dear,"
he said, "As I said I desired to apprise you of these events and
enjoined Jenny with a message to that effect. I trust she was all
that was respectful in this regard."

"W-Why do you ask, my Lord" asked Annabel timidly, with sinking
heart. "Oh, nothing to worry about," said Lord Robert breezily.
"Just a trivial irritating episode, my love, which I am sure you do
not wish to be bothered with." "On the contrary, my Lord," replied
Annabel in a low voice, by now fearing the worst. "I do wish to
know, and I am certain you have been meaning all along to tell me of
it," she shrewdly observed. "Not at all, my love, just a small matter
of an insolent footman." He shook his head as if regretfully, "Yes,
an insolent footman whom I shall have to horsewhip." "Oh," gasped my
Lady, hardly able to suppress the panic in her voice. "What was his
fault," she enquired, with the knowledge of her guilt weighing heavy.
"Well, my Lady," smiled Lord Robert gently, "I will not sully your
ears by reporting what this foul person said. Suffice to say that was
dreadful enough, but the poor fool thought to excuse it by claiming he
had been sent by yourself and instructed to deliver that precise
message. No," he said, again shaking his head, "a horsewhipping it
shall have to be, and I am afraid I shall have to cast him off without
a character. But do not disturb yourself, my dear," added my Lord
wickedly, as he spotted a tear in the corner of my Lady's eye.

"Oh Robert," she cried as she fell to her knees by his side, "do not
torment me so. You know perfectly well that it is all true. I have
behaved abominably." She hid her face in her hands and buried her
head in his lap. "Oh, I am so sorry," she wept. Lord Robert tousled
her attractive curls. "Yes, my dear," he replied gently, "I did know
all along, and yet," he smiled, "I think you needed to be brought to a
state of contrition. Am I not right." "Y-y-yes, my Lord," she
sniffed. "Oh how could I have said such dreadful things."

"Well, my love, it is not just the matter of a hot temper totally
unbridled, and not just a matter of angry words to me." The Earl's
voice was cold now, and his eyes were hard. "I will not have good and
faithful servants punished and ill-treated for nobbut my Lady's ill
temper." At this, Lady Annabel sobbed louder than ever. "Oh my Lord,"
she cried, "Oh Robert, I am so sorry," and continued in a whisper that
surprised herself as much as it delighted her husband "I deserve to be
punished." At these words Lord Robert's eyes gleamed and his heart
filled with joy. He had thought it would be a while yet before Lady
Annabel would so readily submit. Yet, keeping these feelings hidden,
he raised her head. "What was that you said," he enquired politely,
determined to make her speak aloud. A sharp sob, and a gulp as she
stifled her tears, and pride coming to her rescue, Lady Annabel rose
and faced her husband.

"I deserve to be punished, my Lord," she said clearly, although her
voice had a distinct wobble to it. "My behaviour was appalling. I
shall apologise to Edmund and Jenny," she said, eager now to make full
restitution, "And I shall try to control myself better in the future."
She gazed at him, trembling, "W-what is my punishment to be, sir?"

Lord Robert leaned back in his chair, making an effort to mask his
pleasure. He gazed around the room, as if searching for inspiration.
As if by chance he paused in the direction of my Lady's toilet set,
which included, besides all the usual silver combs and bottles, her
old nursery hairbrush. Her old, wooden-backed, stiff-bristled
hairbrush. She followed his stare, glanced back at him rapidly, and
without awaiting his command, crossed the room to fetch it. My Lord
the Earl was greatly pleased at this new occurrence, and thought to
himself, not for the first time, that he had indeed chosen an ideal
wife, one who not only delighted the eye, but one who's antics brought
a smile to his face and provided an excuse for his favourite pastime.

The walk back across the room seemed endless to her, but eventually it
came to an end, and once more my Lady sank to her knees and without a
word, offered the hairbrush to her husband. He picked it up, weighed
it in his hands, and spread his legs. "I think I shall have you
across my knee," he said, patting his leg invitingly. "But first,
kindly remove your powder robe." A quick startled gasp, but silently
Lady Annabel rose and loosened the fastenings of her robe. She
shrugged it to the floor, and having previously removed all her wet
clothing, stood embarrassed, entirely naked, in front of Lord
Merivale.

"Excellent, my dear," said the Earl. "Your demeanour pleases me
exceeding well. And now," he continued, "shall we commence?" Placing
the hairbrush on the floor, he reached out and fondled her breasts,
cupping one in each hand. She stood there, both embarrassed and
titillated for a few seconds,
until he relinquished the breasts to concentrate on the dark aerolae
and her nipples, which he grasped tightly twixt thumb and forefinger,
and gently rotated. He kept his eyes on her face, carefully judging
the precise moment, when, with closed eyes, Annabel started to moan
softly, whereupon his grip increased to a vice-like pressure and in a
swift movement which brought a squeal of pain to my Lady's lips,
pulled her down on to his knee.

Savouring every instant, Lord Robert gently stroked his wife as she
lay across his left leg, whilst with his right leg he clamped both her
legs together at the knees, rendering her immobile. "What a
delightful sight my dear," mused Lord Robert, "And how more pleasing
still t'will be anon." "Oh, please my Lord," pleaded Annabel,
"Torture me no longer, but chastise me if you must." She twisted her
head to look at him, her hands supporting her on the floor. "How - how
many strokes are..." she was stopped by a sharp slap on the back of
her leg. "Do not be impertinent, beloved," replied her husband, "As
many as I see fit." And so saying, he reclaimed the hairbrush from
where it lay. "Kindly place you hands behind your back," he
requested, and as she silently complied he gripped them fast in his
left hand, pressing them into the small of her back, leaving her
precariously balanced on his knee, held there only by the strong grip
of his hand and leg.

Gently he slid the hairbrush over her delicate skin, as if brushing
it, watching the bristles leave fine red marks on his Lady's
posterior. Then, still bristle-side down, he swiftly raised it and
brought it sharply down on her bottom. In vain did Annabel try to
jerk away from the punishing bristles as again and again the stiff
bristles made felt their sharp ends, like little needles, always in
the same spot. My Lord smiled to himself as he reversed the brush and
delivered a further salvo all in the same area, to the accompaniment
of my Lady's shrill cries. And still a relentless pounding, on the
one side only, as my Lord perfected the art of making his victim feel
lopsided and only half-done. A practise which he knew full well from
his youthful adventures usually left his victim actually begging for
the centre of attraction to shift sides. A further half-dozen smacks
while Annabel bucked and wiggled as best she could in my Lord's
vice-like grip. And still my Lord continued unrelenting until his
wife had received a good couple of dozen strokes, which left half of
her bottom a fiery red. Yet still the Earl did not pause, but laid on
a half-dozen further strokes which caused my Lady to scream as the
punishing blows fell, and break into uncontrollable sobs. When my
Lord perceived the effect these last strokes had achieved, he paused,
and waited for the sobs to die sown somewhat. "Well, my dear," he
drawled, "Not so high and mighty now, are you."

"Oh Robert, forgive me, I beg you," sobbed his young wife. "Oh it
hurts so." "Does it," said my Lord with a naughty twinkle in his
eyes. "Not half as much as it shall soon." "What do you mean,"
stammered poor Annabel. "Ah, my love," replied her husband, "a little
refinement I had forgot to mention. What punishment you receive on
the one cheek is also due to the other, and thus you may know, as you
desired earlier, the total of your punishment." "Oh, my Lord, I beg
of you, I cannot take any more," pleaded his wife. "Nonsense, my
pet," smiled the Earl, delivering a hearty slap to the backs of her
legs. "You are only half-done. Do you not feel somewhat unbalanced?"
he remarked, stroking her bottom all over with the bristles of her
brush. "And such a pretty sight it is too," he smiled, "The red so
red, and the white so whitely inviting my caresses to create a uniform
shade." And impervious to Lady Annabel's pleas that she really could
not withstand a further assault, my Lord once more set about his Lady,
endeavouring to create a symmetrical picture. My Lord's grip was firm
and his aim was sure, and Lady Annabel shrieked to no avail, for it
was not until a full four and twenty punishing strokes had my Lady
suffered did he pause a split-second, before finishing off the job
with a final six full-bodied blows to her now exceedingly tender and
rosy bottom cheeks, at which Lady Annabel burst into uncontrollable
sobbing.

My Lord instantly dropped the brush at this juncture, gently laid his
wife upon her bed, and unfastening his clothes, lay atop her, and
without further ado plunged himself deep into my Lady's valley of
pleasure, with her legs round his waist, and his strong hands firmly
grasping her tender bottom as he pulled her ever closer to himself.
Needless to say, my Lady's tears of pain soon gave way to tears of
joy, as the Earl skilfully brought her and himself to the climax of
their enjoyment.

They lay together a while after, my Lady cradled against Lord Robert's
chest. "You are a constant source of pleasure to me, beloved," said my
Lord, "But, tell me, hast thou been accustomed to discipline?" "Well,
my Lord," said his wife, "When I was a child I did receive some
nursery punishments, indeed, on one occasion, with that self-same
brush, but never a punishment so thorough as what you have inflicted
on me today," confessed Lady Annabel, then added, "But why do you ask,
my Lord ?"

"Well, you see my dear," said her husband, "When I asked your Mama for
your hand, I enquired whether you were well-disciplined, which your
good mama assured me was the case, but I fear I may have been led
astray." Again that wicked twinkle in his eyes. "Led astray? Why,
how so, sir," enquired Annabel. "Ah, when I was a lad," explained Lord
Robert, "I was brought up to believe that a well-mannered youth should
thank his master for the lesson he had been taught. Nay, were thanks
not forthcoming, a further punishment was due." He paused, with a
roguish smile flitting across his face."Oh my Lord, thank you for
chastising me," interrupted his wife hastily. The Earl's smile spread.
"Nice try, my love, but somewhat tardy. The brush once more, if you
please." And he watched in glee as my Lady, all confusion, started
and gasped, and as if realising t'were all in vain, slowly crossed to
where the brush lay, and without a further murmur lay across the bed
for a final six sharp stroked as a reminder that manners indeed maketh
man, before in a shaky voice my Lady thanked her Lord for her
well-deserved chastisement.
