According to the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders
(DSM), fetishism is the fixation on an inanimate object or a body
part.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sexual_fetishism

In common speech, any fixation on a singular inanimate object, body
part, body feature or sexual practice is called fetishism. Here,
fetishism is an uncommon sexual orientation.

Sexual orientation and mental health
There are at least two possible questions that can be asked about this
topic: first, can people with certain sexual orientations be
considered to have a mental illness, simply by virtue of their sexual
orientation? Second, is there a correlation and/or a causal
relationship between certain sexual orientations and any types of
mental illness?

Clinically, heterosexual acts are considered most common in today's
cultures (statistically most likely), but the concept of "normal" and
"abnormal" with its connotations of sickness or moral judgment are no
longer considered valid by most medical professionals.

I am trying to see whether ass- fetish is considered festishism.

Keep reading the DSM and you'll find your answer. Somewhere in there
are the diagnostic criteria for sexual deviancies or 'paraphilias'. If
I recall correctly, they are:

Obsession -- A long-standing preoccupation with the object or activity
that is highly arousing. The person thinks about it too often and at
inopportune times.

Compulsion -- A pressure to act upon the erotic fantasy. When tempted
with the object or activity they almost always give into the temptation
immediately.

Dysfunction -- An inability to perform normally sexually unless the
object or activity is involved.

You don't need all three of these to get a diagnosis of deviancy, but
they are the yardsticks with which you start. Generally paraphilias are
not a problem unless they cause 'clinically significant distress or
impairment' in the subject's life. Note that the DSM doesn't say much
about distress for the subject's loved ones. If he's fixated on your ass
and not tending to your needs, that's something you need to talk about
and come to an agreement.

I'm a butt man myself, but nowhere near clinically infatuated. A person
would have to be seriously fixated on the ass in order to qualify as
mentally ill. :)
