Sex talk? You want sex talk? Fine. :-)
Last night, I tried again to get fisted, and there's this point at which
there's a pinching pain and I can't go further, but it was fun trying.
My partner said that zie felt that if zie just pushed on a little more,
zie'd get there, but I was afraid, so I called it quits. Maybe I'll try
again soonish.

Nonsense.

Aww. What's up?

Always remember that last part...you had fun trying.

Yup...much better to try again than to go too far too soon and regret
it (ouch). I have tried as well and haven't gotten completely there. I
do however know what it's like to have a tear (childbirth), and that
can really be no fun for quite awhile.
Yay for trying new things/persistence! Ok...my own new thing was a
couple of nights ago. I've tried anla sex while on top a few times and
it never worked out very well. Well, finally had some great
success. : )

I think I've only had one partner that this worked for, and even then
only once, but it was really fun for us both when it did. But I think
my hands are very broad. In some cases, it seemed like it might work if
we wanted to spend a lot of time and lube on it, but I've become
possessed by a desire to get my partner off sooner rather than later and
have switched modes.

Maybe they are shy?
I remember when I first stumbled across ssg, I lurked for several
*years* before actually posting. Seriously - I enjoyed the
conversations, but I found that most of the people were writing
intelligent and thoughtful posts, and I didn't feel that I had anything
to offer - especially since at the time things weren't going well in my
marriage. I was reluctant to join in. I'd stop by once in a while -
maybe once a month. Then more often. And more often. And finally I got
up enough nerve to post a comment or two on something or other.
A decade ago, to this newbie, it seemed like a close-knit kind of group,
and I guess it still has that image for the current generation of n00bs.
But then, I think that it's typical for any group to look tightly
knot to outsiders. The variation here is that when one has a sexual
issue, one is often embarrassed to bring it up - even to a groups of
strangers.
Too bad because SSG is one of the better places for doing so. I've seen
what passes for sex advice on some web boards, and I'm horrified. Well,
amusedly shocked is a better description. But still...

Oh, I really want to try that, but I'm always a little nervous when I'm
on top. I thought I might try a middling thing -- missionary anal, which
I've never done before, either.
*nod* There are times when we're both (I say "we" to mean a combination
of me and any sex partner) both in the mood to do geeky sex experiments
("Huh. I wonder if this will go there?"), and times when one or more of
us just wants to get off. The former are the times for things like
seeing if I can finally succeed in being fisted. ;-)
(Or if I just get the craving for it so hard that I am willing to tell
my partner that that's exactly what I want.)

Thats how sex is, everyone wants to know about it more than they
actually do.
Read, watch, read, watch, watch, do, read, watch, read, watch, read,
watch, read, watch, read, watch, read, watch, watch, watch, read,
watch, read, read, do, read, read, read, read, read, watch, watch,
watch, do.
Something like that.
All I'm asking is for people to think and talk about what they think
and talk about, and sometimes, do.

Yes. There are some sites with good advice/info, but this may be yet
another area in which Sturgeon's Law applies.
On this topic--Tom, what web boards have you seen with good advice?
Or, ftm, how about amusingly awful ones?
I've not looked at many--have spent some time checking scarleteen out,
as their mission (sex advice for teens) seems to me an important one,
and haven't had issues with what I've seen there.

I submit that there are a lot of us who, aside from the general
interest in reading about/learning about sex [1], don't get to do
sexual stuff as often as we'd like. Maybe that's because partner
isn't up for that much frequency; maybe it's because RL(tm) just
doesn't allow it; maybe other reasons.
[1] BIG difference reading about sex in, frex, SSG or a good advice
forum as compared to sex fiction as in ASSM or any other of the
various available supplies of sex stories. Here, we're almost always
reading what real people do, or have done; their attitudes about that
and about what they may do--or choose to not do--and other aspects of
sexual reality. Sex fiction--while some is fairly reflective of
reality--is fiction. Written, and read, for different reasons than
those involved in actual discussions as this newsgroup.
I've found that anal sex in the "reverse cowgirl" (although I suppose
it's not cow*girl* in my case, but rather, receiving-person-on-top,
facing the other person's feet) position was the easiest way to start
things out, for me. I can control things a lot more and the initial
penetration goes easier from that angle. Sometimes I switch to other
positions later, sometimes not.
(I'm told that the view is nice in that position for the other person.)

Yahoo Answers can be a fantastic source of hilariously bad and
snark-worthy advice.

Well, how do most people discover newsgroups these days? And in particular,
this little hidden gem?
I started experimenting with my Outlook Express newsreader years ago simply
because it was there, and apart from other interests and hobbies, I was
looking for a bit of tittulation and came across this group of sexual
intellects! :-) And all without the extra porn spam which clutters up the
serious information and discussions.
So I got to ask "all those things I wanted to know about sex but was afraid
to ask..."
If people was searching for any knowledge or info on sex these days, there
would probably be plenty of websites and web-based forums out there.
Although some might stumble upon Google groups I guess.
Now I'm curious to know, how (and why) did most people here discover this
newsgroup?

I had already been a Newsgroup user, and one day decided to search on *sex.
Oy!
It took days to go through all the odd groups - anybody remember reading
the binary groups on dial-up? I stumbled across this one and kept
checking in, more and then more frequently.
Eventually I got brave enough to post ('cos y'all know what a shy and
retiring wallflower I really am).

It was mentioned in another group I read by someone who used to post
lots and lots a long time ago, but no longer does.
sue
I may try it, but I have to be in a certain mood to even try, because
the partner I would try it with and I have had several aborted attempts
at anal, so we don't try very often any more.

Either someone mentioned it on alt.poly (where I've been subscribed
since late '98), or I found it searching on "sex". I don't remember.
It's been years now.

I think I might have first heard about it from Elf on alt.poly, but I'm
not sure.
I was on one of the tantra groups where Cat Yronwode mentioned it. That
was about 10 years ago. And like some of the others, I'd been reading
other groups on usenet for a couple years before that.
sue
Oh, I forgot you knew Cat (if I knew that at all). Oy. :-)
Wow - I knew Cat from another group, years ago - but I never see her
posting anymore.
Well, I don't know her... but have been to her webpage and seen her
posts here and there. She actually lives in your neck of the woods, but
across the Bay I think.
sue
She might still post in the alt.magick.tantra group, but I haven't been
there in years.
sue
I think L told me about it.
Darklily
Cat is one of the small handful of women Freemasons that I've gotten to
know or be familiar with over the years.

Nope, north of me. My ex-wife worked for her for years and still sees
her on a fairly regular basis.
She's mostly doing luckymojo.com these days, from what I understand.
Wasn't Cat Yronwode here for a bit a while back?

I wasn't sure if she was down on the Peninsula or up in Marin/Sonoma.

Since I joined, I've seen her posts only a handful of times, but last
time was several years ago I think.

The latter.

googling for discussions on sexuality? :P I didn't know about the
existence of usenet at the time.

Yeah, that I can totally understand. I've definitely had that
experience in the past.

*giggle* I'm sure you could get a photo in that position taken if you
wanted one. You know, to help with the imagination. :)
