I see Sarah and Norton are still here -- might any of the other regulars
I remember be about?
--illecebra
Hi 'ceebs!
Yeah, I'm still here, and you'll see Suzee wandering in and out once in
a while.
What the heck you been up to? Still moving around a lot?

I remember you! I don't know if I qualify as a regular back then (i.e.
if *you* would remember me). I come and go around here a bit. Life is
busy.
Glad you popped in. What have you been up to?
Darklily
Yes, most of us are still around who know you. Glad to see you reappear,
check in now and then.
sue
I remember the name. Although I do and have always lurked more than
posted.
Here I am, reappearing myself to say hello. Hope life's treating you
well and that you are busy with good things!
JustGB
Incredibly, I was thinking about you recently, wondering where life has
led you. And here you are!
Jana
I remember you. How yer doin'?
-Elizabeth
Wow -- it's great to hear so many fondly remembered voices still out
there. Life here is good, though ever-changing and ever-busy. I'm no
longer married (long story, not for public newsgroups), but still happily
poly, at least so much as someone living in the middle of nowhere with no
time for a love life can be poly. ;)
--illecebra
Wasn't your ex in Iraq on active duty? That can't be easy on any
marriage. (that was you, wasn't it?)
JustGB
So roughly which part of the the middle of nowhere are you living now?
I've moved next door to MoN and am now in central Wyoming.
sue
Wow. I remember an episode of Garfield where he claims Wyoming doesn't
exist. Because, like, have you ever met anybody from Wyoming?
Jana
There's quite a lot of natives here. I'm from Idaho and Oregon myself,
with a lot of time spent in California and Nevada, and a few years in
Michigan.

The people *from* Wyoming have no reason to be elsewhere, so how could
anyone meet them?

Hi ille-susan - I drop by very occasionally to check that the crew are
still at it. Glad to see you're still in the land of the living too.
All the best for the new year to all.

Hi Susan! How nice of you to drop in. I've been thinking of you and
wondering how you were doing, actually.

Christina! *hugs* I was wondering if you were still around, you're one
of the ones I wonder about when I disappear from here for months at a
time. Has life been treating you well?
Hi Dave, yes, life is pretty good. I enjoy the job I've managed to
keep for 7 years now, live in a nice place, get on well with family
and work colleagues. Most of my free time is taken up with various art
activities. I'm into digital painting and 3D at the moment. You might
be interested in some photographic stuff I did a bit over a year ago -
gives an idea what I've been up to. Some if it is sort of related to
sex, just to stay relevant. All a bit grim but I was playing it up a
bit (sometimes). Hope all is well with you too. I have connections
with Calgary these days (a minor contributor at istockphoto, whose HQ
is in Calgary)

Hey, ille-susan and Christina! <waves from yonder>
Hi AJ - wow, a reunion happening here. Next you know Delilah and Jack
Lipton will be dropping by.
Jack won't be unfortunately... he's off the internet for good, though
still alive and well I think.
sue
I hope so. Having been in a situation not so very different from his
for a long time I have a lot of sympathy for him. In fact my ex once
posited that I did what I did to get out of the relationship. Not
true, but it was a welcome side effect.

Off the internet for good? That's not my definition of "alive and well"

Well that is just downright good to hear! I'm just starting my 7th year
with my current employer myself. I have gone off and moved though, not
living in Calgary anymore although I'm back every couple of months to
visit friends+family+etc.

Nice pussy. Actually some very nice shots! -- I'm getting into
photography a little more, although I can't take a good shot of another
human being to save my life. I've gotten a few lucky shots, but never
anything planned.
I've actually got one cat that looks very similar, and if you can handle
the insanity, I wouldn't call a cat defeat. Nine cats is defeat. Heck,
even six is probably over doing it...
It was sort of an ultimatum from his wife, not due to health problems.

That particular group of images is all self-portrait.
First no sex, and now no internet!!! I haven't had sex for years, but
without the internet I'd be truly screwed.
Or not screwed....
sue
No email, nothing? I can't see that as being good for his mental/
emotional health. Sharing and venting is good for the soul - not to
mention a connection outside of the home.
Yep, no email, though of course he needs to at work, but only work
related stuff. Yeah, if there was ever someone in need of venting...
Hope he does okay.
sue
Well if that won't make him love her I don't know what will.
Jana
And so turned she's ripping his clothes off whenever she can.
JustGB
>That particular group of images is all self-portrait.
Yeah, I guessed that much based on the angles.
I cannot do a self-portrait I'd show another human being, and only
occasionally can I take one of myself that I'll even look at, and I'm
envious of both your talent and your beauty.
I'm still mucking about the internet as well. I don't get over here as
much as I'd like to. :(
All good medicine,

Ummm, yes. I met folks from Wyoming, because I lived there for a
while.

I disappeared for a while again close to Xmas 08. And whenever I return, I
forget whether it's more appropriate etiquette to top or bottom-post!

Or whatever. Hi to you Sam!

Think about it, what was the topic you are replying to? Better let the
reader get up to speed first, then add your bit.
To your credit you know about options
Outlook Express assumes you are Top Posting when you hit Reply...

I think you can select an option to bottom post on reply...

Agent places the cursor at the top -- but it is not with the intention
of encouraging top posting. Agent was originally developed as a Usenet
news reader, rather than an email client, and the reason for placing the
cursor at the top was to encourage the responder to go down through the
quoted portion of the previous message deleting anything not proximately
relevant to the response.

How difficult is it, really, to simply scroll down and enter text where
you'd like, no matter where your reader positions your cursor?

It's been so long since I've used OE that it's not entirely clear in my
memory how you'd do that. I think it had to do with not including a
signature, since it was put at the top and the quoted post came after
that, but I couldn't be sure of that.
As for posting to newsgroups, you could say it's a little like foreplay.
You start at the top of the post or partner, paying attention to some
parts and ignoring others[0], all the while working your way gradually
down to the bottom. Once at the bottom, go back to the top and start
again, just to make sure you didn't miss out anything and that you're
satisfied with the results. Well, if it was foreplay, it's the partners
satisfaction with the results that's important rather than your own, but
you get the idea...
[0] With a news posting, I'd snip the ignored part out. With foreplay, I
would just leave the specific part alone.
