LOL! The cleanup of the Senate is already underway, and the elections
aren't until November!

One more loser gone.

Don't gloat too soon, since this is bad for the Republicans...

These Dems knew for a fact that they would lose next November, so they
decided to resign and let the Dem voters in that state have a
candidate
that hasn't pissed off their electorate. If the new Dem candidate has
something
going for him/her, it will change a certain Dem defeat into a
competitive
fight.... The Reps would have LOVED to have the "old" Dem candidate
---
-- now they have someone they have to worry about....

It's a long time till November.

I don't think it will matter much. Whoever the new Dem candidate is,
he's still a Dem, and hopefully the people have had enough of that, and
will vote against the party regardless of who it is. The passage of the
Healthcare bill will doom many of them.

As was expected - indeed, was part of the discussions that resulted in
Dodd's withdrawal announcement - Ct's long-time, substantially
respected, "good government" advocate, Atty. Gen. Richard Blumenthal,
announced that he will be running AND neutral polling indicates
strongly that, besides his numbers being far more favorable than
Dodd's, he is VERY far ahead of all the anticipated would-be Repub.
candidates. And in addition to his record of accomplishments and
otherwise virtually impeccable resum, his family and he and the Dems
more generally in the state are better positioned than Repubs to
finance a campaign.

Andy comments:

All the new Dem candidate has to do is claim he opposed the health
care bill and if he had been the rep, it never would have passed....
The
Dems who would have changed their vote to the Rep candidate will be
placated and think "FINALLY we have a good man who thinks like
we do".... Of course, after the election, everything changes.....and
that's "change" you can believe in...
