For those that are researching the COURTENAY name and its variants,
there is now "THE COURTENAY SOCIETY", which has just been formed.
The COURTENAY SOCIETY has its Headquarters at Powderham Castle in
Devonshire, England, and its President is the Earl of Devon, and the
Chairman is Lord Courtenay DL.
The objects of the Society are:
[1] To establish and encourage links within the world wide Courtenay
family and to promote a sense of kinship within the family whose
originsare firmly based in history.
[2] To provide a channel for the study, research and exchange of
historical and genealogical information between members of the
wider family.
[3] To publish a newsletter to keep members of the Society informed on
matters of common interest.
[4] To provide an organisation interested in and supportive of the
continuing preservation of Powderham Castle and other properties in
England and in France and elsewhere historically associated with
the Courtenay family, theircontents and historical and genealogical
records and material relating to the Courtenay family wherever
located.
Membership Fees are projected to be $25.00 US funds.
