Once there was somebody who told that there's a ftp server where one may get a
file of the most recent gedcom standard. Who knows, how to get a computer readab
le file of this document?

An online copy of the GEDCOM standard (or maybe it's a draft, I'm not sure)
is on hoth.stsci.edu. The genealogical contents of hoth.stsci.edu are also
mirrored to ftp.cac.psu.edu under /pub/genealogy.
