SYRIAN ARAB REPUBLIC TROOPS WIPE OUT THE SUPERPOWER'S TERRORISTS

Makdessi : What happened in al-Treimseh [was] a military operation between the [Syrian Arab Republic] army and gunmen who terrorized civilians

----

Spokesman for the Foreign and Expatriates Ministry Dr. Jihad Makdessi on Sunday described as 'hasty' the letter of the UN Envoy Kofi Annan over the reality of the events in al-Treimseh Town in Hama countryside.

In a press conference held in Damascus, Makdessi said that armed terrorist groups overran the town and terrorized its people, adding that the terrorists launched attacks against the law-enforcement personnel from this town.

He stressed that the Syrian army has not used any heavy weapons in the area and used only personnel carriers and light weapons, adding that clashes between the law-enforcement personnel and the terrorists lasted only for few hours.

Makdessi added that only five buildings were damaged as the terrorists were positioned in these buildings, highlighting that what happened in al-Treimseh was not a massacre but a military operation [that] took place between the army and armed terrorist groups that don't believe in dialogue or political solution.

He said those who were killed in al-Treimseh are from [1] the terrorists whose number reached 37 and [2] two civilians.

"Whoever takes up arms against the state will be in a confrontation with the Syrian Arab Army and we welcome those who want the dialogue," Makdessi added.

THE EGYTIAN WORKING CLASS WAS AND IS THE SPARK

Thousands stage strike at Egypt textile giant

----

More than 23,000 workers angered by low wages at Egypt's biggest textile company staged a strike on Sunday, bringing production to a halt

The factory of state-owned Misr Spinning and Weaving, in the Nile Delta city of Mahalla, was the site of protests in 2008 that sparked a wave of strikes across the country, widely regarded as a catalyst for the revolt that ended the rule of Hosni Mubarak last year.

The latest strike is a test for newly elected [fake] Islamist president Mohamed Mursi

Honduran land seizures raise fear of wider clashes of *class and ideology*

----

[Manuel] Zelaya, the son of a wealthy timber and ranching family, alarmed powerful Hondurans by veering left after becoming president in 2006 and allying himself with Venezuelan leader Hugo Chávez.

He was deposed by armed soldiers on 28 June 2009, after ignoring a supreme court order to cancel a referendum seeking approval to change the constitution.

The coup was widely seen as an attempt to protect the interests of Honduras's political and business elite and outraged domestic leftists, including the long-established farmworkers movements, while isolating the country internationally.

Amid the turmoil after Zelaya's ousting, thousands of farmworkers seized about 27,000 acres (11,000 hectares) owned by [billionaire Miguel] Facussé's Corporacion Dinant, and demanded ownership of the property, which holds lucrative plantations of African palm trees.

In fact, the land itself once was owned by many of the families now trying to take it back. The government gave the land to farmers who cleared and settled it in the 1970s, but did not let them sell the property. They formed co-operatives that raised food and other crops, but went bankrupt after Honduras opened its economy to [The Superpower's] free trade.

THE TRASH REPORT

Christine Lagarde and Nicolas Sarkozy embroiled in new corruption inquiry

----

The pair already face allegations that...Lagarde, the *head of the [Superpower's] International Monetary Fund (IMF),* authorised a £270 million payout to a prominent supporter of the former French president when she was his finance minister.

Now, they face a separate inquiry in a row over the amount of compensation that...Sarkozy’s government should have paid following the collapse of Itea, an insurance company, in 2009.

Xavier Musca, a financial expert, is said to have recommended to Miss Lagarde that Maurice Nussenbaum, another expert, receive the Legion d’Honneur, France’s top civilian award, so he would rule in the government’s favour in the trade dispute.

Equip pupils with practical skills: President [Mugabe]

----

Addressing thousands of people at the joint launch of the Presidential High Schools e-learning programme for the country’s southern region *and* the technologically advanced Landa John Nkomo High School at Manqe in Tsholotsho District, President Mugabe said the academically-inclined education system was a disadvantage to the country.

He said the launch of the e-learning programme was a way of creating *self-reliance* among the youths and of equipping the girl child with survival skills that would prevent exploitation.

“Lest we forget, the colonial education system which we inherited was by and large, academically inclined and *deliberately* designed to create an ever-desperate pool of job seekers who eagerly awaited and gave each other turns to join the white dominated and controlled labour market only to be exploited for the white man’s benefit,” said President Mugabe.

“The launch of the e-learning programme at this particular school would not have been possible without the Honourable Vice-President Landa John Nkomo’s quest for development and his visionary leadership,” said President Mugabe.

The President said VP Nkomo was inspired by the goals of *the liberation struggle.*

“He knew very well that *our independence would be meaningless if the national socio-economic development agenda is not addressed.* It is through the desire to uplift the livelihoods of our people that he mobilised resources for establishing a secondary school in this remote area, which is one of the districts that bore the brunt of the *draconian racial policies* of the settler governments, whose objective was to *under develop* indigenous people,” said President Mugabe.

CAPITALISM IS FOR PARASITES.

PERHAPS THE BIGGER CRIMINALS ARE THOSE WHO EXPLAIN IT ALL AWAY.

This global financial fraud and its gatekeepers

The media's 'bad apple' thesis no longer works. We're seeing systemic corruption in banking – and systemic collusion

By Naomi Wolf

----

Last fall, I argued that the violent reaction to Occupy and other protests around the world had to do with the 1%ers' fear of the rank and file exposing massive fraud if they ever managed get their hands on the books. At that time, I had no evidence of this motivation beyond the fact that financial system reform and increased transparency were at the top of many protesters' list of demands.

But this week presents a sick-making trove of new data that abundantly fills in this hypothesis and confirms this picture. The notion that the *entire* global financial system is riddled with *systemic* fraud – and that key players in the gatekeeper roles, both in finance and in government, including regulatory bodies, know it and choose to *quietly* sustain this reality – is one that would have only recently seemed like the frenzied hypothesis of tinhat-wearers, but this week's headlines make such a conclusion, sadly, inevitable.

Are all these examples of oversight failure and banking fraud just big ol' mistakes? Are the regulators simply distracted?

It is very hard, looking at the elaborate edifices of fraud that are emerging across the financial system, to ignore the possibility that *this kind of silence* – "the willingness to not rock the boat" – is simply rewarded by promotion to ever higher positions, ever greater authority. If you learn that rate-rigging and regulatory failures are systemic, but stay quiet, well, perhaps you have shown that you are *genuinely reliable* and deserve membership of the club.
