Never heard of him.
>
Former Senator from Tennessee (had All Gore's old seat). Council to Sen.
Baker on the Watergate committee. Lead team in Justice Roberts confirmation
hearings.
Read Sordo's post down below under the caption: TV Star, Former Republican
Senator Fred Thompson Mulls '08 Presidential Bid for lots more details.
He was also a US Senator from Tennessee for 1 1/2 terms. Returned to
Law & Order before his last term was over. Perhaps he didn't feel that
Congress was a full time job!
No indication that he sponsored anything significant while he was in the
Senate.
"After two years in Washington, I often long for the realism and
sincerity of Hollywood." From a speech given by Thompson before the
Commonwealth Club of California.
Oh My Gawd! He is also a visiting fellow at the American Enterprise
Institute. Another neo conservative.
Yea, he is a good candidate! Wonder who the Republicans will drag out next!
He played the part of the District Attorney on the latest version of TV's Law &
Order.......that's what the country needs, another actor!! Actually, he got
elected in Tennessee because the voters thought he looked like a senator should
look. So now that he's been a senator, why not bigger and better things?
George Z.
He looks like what a president should look like.

Come to think about it, he does resemble Hugo Chavez!
George Z.
What should a president look like? An elderly white male?
>We've already dragged out Rudy Giuliani. He's all we need.

If he had any competition he would be done by now.

Republicans think so.

:^) You know, I think we'all are on to something here, a way to
escape two years of mental indigestion listening to a whole lot of
earnest wimpy hopefulness (Dems) and hatemongering faux-patriotic
disinfo (Gops). How about just having the various factions post
glamor shots of their prize candidate everywhere, with the name in big
simple letters, and spare us the blotivating.
This would work because: 1) Everybody knows exactly what a
president looks like, 2) nobody knows what an effective president acts
like until they see (or don't see) it, and 3) because most people* can
see better than they can think.
* Please note that I very charitably did not say "most men".
For normal citizens the saving in time, attention, and aggrievation
would be phenomenal. For elected officials, the savings in total pre-
election effort might mean that they'd be able to squeeze in some time
between visits to the spa to do the work of governance for which they
were elected.

Ok, y'all get Fred and we'all get Martin Sheen. That'll work.
Ubetcha.....and ours even has experience on the job!
(^+^)))))))))
George Z.
That will make him appealing to Chavez followers on the left.

Not the point....I mentioned Chavez only to make the point that presidents don't
all look like Dubya, and that was in response to a comment about Fred Thompson
looking like a president.
Let's not get carried away with something meant only to be fun and games. It
was a joke, son.
