Waheguru ji ka Khalsa,
Waheguru ji kee Fateh.
This particular post is directed to those who rely on the hukamnama
issued by the akal takhat allowing sikhs to eat meat.
Recently the Jathedaar of the Akal tahat ( bhai sahib prof. Manjeet singh
ji ) was in our area. We spoke to him about the meat issue. Here are
some of the things he has said:
--He himself does not eat meat / fish / eggs.
--HE also believes that it is wrong for sikhs to eat meat.
--The ONLY reason why Akal takhat has issued such a hukamnama is
because of THOSE who make such a fuss about wanting to eat meat
(and possibly avoid a split in the khalsa panth ). In fact, he
said that the hukamnama never stated that sikhs should eat meat, but
that the decision was up to them.
Admitted the rehat maryada from the Akal Takhat states that a
sikh can eat meat so long as it is not halal meat, but the very SAME
rehat maryada ALSO states that a sikh should also follow EVERY command of
the Sri Guru Granth Sahib Jee, which clearly forbids the
consumption of meat. ( The following article, which gives the relevant
tukhs from sri Guru Granth Sahib jee, is from our veer Navjot singh jee )

What really gets to me is when we have hukamnamas written by our
great gurus's ordering us not to eat meat, yet still to satisfy the taste
of their mouths, they say that this is written by some "overzealeous
scribe" and not by our sri Guru Hargobind sahib ji. Instead, they choose to
believe some Persian historian ( mohsin fani ), who claims to have spent a
great deal of time with Guru Hargobind ji, And has written a book
(Dabistan-e-mahazib) in which he claims sikhs can eat whatever they like!!!!!
Well let me ask all of you a question: Who Is YOUR guru. Is it
Sri Guru Granth Sahib ji or Is it that book. If you believe in that book
then you NO rights to call yourselves sikhs of the Satguru, as your
guru is something else!!
Remember that the light in the Sri Guru Granth Sahib ji is the
VERY SAME light that was in Guru Nanak dev ji and was the VERY SAME light
that was passed down through each successive guru to Dhan Dhan Sri Guru
Gobind Singh Ji Maharaj, Dasmesh Pita Ji. If the Bani has said don't
consume meat, then the guru himself - the means by which we have this
bani - Would NOT go against what it said. My Father, Sri Guru Gobind
Singh jee - Who was the ideal and true Khalsa - would'nt tell His sikhs
not to eat meat, and then go and eat it himself. He loved us as much as
he loved his four shahabzada. Did he sacrifice them just to give us
freedom so we could do Guru Di Ninnda by claiming he ate meat. I don't
think so.
Remember what Bhai Nand (lal) singh ji has said
"Guru Ki Ninnda Sunnay Na Kaa'n, Bhet Kray tis Sang Kirpan"
Bhul chuk maaf,
Waheguru ji ka Khalsa,
Waheguru ji kee FAteh,
Daas Jasvinder singh
