Shaq is Mormon and he's married to Steve Young?
Isn't that against For The Strength of Youth standards?
Craig, who notes while Shaq isn't, Steve is young, so ... well, ...

I asked on their website chat, somebody said she had said on a TV show
that she's a Catholic, both of her parents too. That would appear more
probable with a Italian/Lebanese/Columbian descent anyways, as all those
peoples are in their majority Roman or Maronite Catholic. Somebody else
said that she heard the LDS discussions at one point but didn't go any
further.

What's that? Craig officiated at Shaq and Shakira's wedding? I didn't even
know Craig was currently a bishop, let alone that he had such famous
friends!
David, who probably shouldn't play with the newbies like that

What's that? A young Cat Stevens was annoyed by the typo in "For the
strength of youth", where it's spelled "shaq up" instead of "shack up"? I
didn't know that!

Great. Now I'm going to spend the rest of the evening singing,
"Did it take long to find me? I asked the faithful light.
Did it take long to find me? And are you gonna stay the night?"
ObLDS: Steven Spellberg is a Mormon?

David, I think you've gotten yourself locked in at the computer labs
once too often this semester. Go home and get yourself some sleep.
BTW, when's your next album coming out? ;->
Joel, still wondering if the title of the Book/Movie/Album, "The Man
Who Fell to Earth" was intentional symbolism.
That's silly; everyone knows that Cat Stevens isn't a member, you
must be thinking of Connie Stevens, his mother, who joined the church
after meeting a missionary on the set of an Ace Hardware commercial
(yes, that was Connie Stevens singing "Ace is the place with the
helpful hardware ma-an").
Craig, stuck with that tune for the day, now.

I think I can help clear all of this confusion up.
My branch president's uncle is President of the Chicago Temple. He said
that there was a Missionary who just came home from his mission who
baptised someone named Shakira. It wasn't Shakira the famous singer, just
someone named Shakira.
So, Shakira is a Mormon, but Shakira is not a Mormon.
Hope this helps!

No, no no! That was Connie Chung! She joined the church after the vengeful
mother of Newt Gingrich made her sit through the missionary discussions.
At the end of the 2nd discussion, when the Elders tried to commit Connie
Chung to baptism, Ms. Gingrich told Chung to just whisper 'yes' in her
ear.

No, but Steven Spielberg is, of course.
David, who thinks it's way too long since people on this ng got silly
I think the odds of someone who is a member having the same name as a famous
singer who is not a member are just too outlandish to even bother to calc...
wait a minute.
Oh, never mind.

Does this mean A. E. Van Vogt is a member?

Jack Hues and Nick Feldman from the rock group Wang Chung are members?

And if I ever lose my legs, I won't mourn, and I won't beg.
Say, I worked with a missionary from Canada who said he had actually
been present when a girl got baptized in Randy Bachman's (of Guess
Who/BTO) pool.
I've often wondered if he was pulling my leg or not.
Joel
Possibly not; unlike other individuals in this thread, Brother Bachman
actually *is* a convert and last time we talked (okay, the only time),
he was active.
He had been Teacher's Quorum advisor at one point (a former member the
ward that David and I share was a teacher in Randy's ward at the time).
Craig, who saw RB is concert at the Surf Ballroom, Clear Lake, Iowa.
[But it wasn't February and he seemed to live through the trip]

Jack Nicholson is a Mormon? When did that happen?

You probably know, but since he lives in Great Britain, I may help by
pointing out that he's Muslim, having changed his name to something like
Yousif Islam. He crops up on our TVs, from time-to-time, supporting
Islamic schools.

No, you're thinking of Wayne Wang; his next film (the
first since his baptism) will be "Eat, Drink, Be Merry,
Die Tomorrow," starring Joan Chen and Jackie Chan.

I remember the stir in my ward at BYU in 1979 when one
of the members of Kansas came to Sacrament meeting and
sat with his fiancee, the bishop's daughter. There
wasn't that much male head hair at a 12-stake
priesthood meeting. I don't remember who it was; it
could have been Kerry Livgren, who is now an
evangelical who sometimes appears on radio and
television.

No, that would be Michael Jackson, who just completed the missionary
discussions two months ago.
That's probably who visited Hedgehog, which would explain why he's never
joined.
Best,
Ann
I hear that he's been called as a Primary teacher. The ward finds that
thrilling.

David Bowie baptized Michael Jackson sometime between the release of
Thriller and the release of Bad?
