Assalamualaikum;

A Christian discussed with me on the issue of the religion of Khadijah
r.a. before Islam. He claims that Khadijah r.a. has influence of
Christianity from Warraqa ibn Naufal and somehow passed it on to the
Prophet s.a.w.

During my readings on our deen, I have come to believe that Khadijah
r.a., like the rest of the society of the Arabs before Islam, was a
pagan. Perhaps someone could help dispel the idiotic notion of this
Christian apologist.

Wassalam.

Dear Brother,

I would like to thank you for offering the chance to clear this point.
The great Sayyeda Khadeeja was a "Haneefah" (on the path of Ibraheem AS)
like many "Honafa'" such as the parents of the prophet (P). These Honafa'
were a minority in the area before Islam, but they were worshiping Allah
(SW) and only Allah (SW) the same way like prophet Ibraheem (AS). This
minority contrasts with the majority who were either pure idole worshipers
ie idolators, or they were "Moshrik" ie they think they were worshiping
God but through idoles or associating idoles with God or thinking that God
has children or wifes or daughters. For example, the idole "Houbal"
appeared first in Damascus and a sample of it was brought to arabia where
some people became happy with it and adopted it and put it inside the
kaaba. Another example is When the king of Habasha (Ethiopia) asked Amr
Bin El Ass about his worshiping idoles, Amr replied that he does not but
he worships a spirit that he believes it inhabits the idoles. A contrary
example was Imam Ali (AS) who is known among all the prophet's compagnions
for not having worshiped the idoles and many muslims say after his name
"Karram LLah Wajhah" (Allah has dignified his face). Imam Ali was also on
the path of his parents and on that of the prophet (P) who raised him on
the way of his grandfather Abdulmuttaleb who was a "Haneef" and his
position was well known when people were affraid that Abrahah destroyed
the Kaaba, that Allah will protect his house.

I hope this will help.

Sayyedah Kadeeja Al Koubraa (the great) was muslim on the path of Ibraheem
AS and her saying to the prophet (P): "I wish you are the waited prophet
for this Ummah" is well known.

Peace be on her the day she was born and the day shee died and on her
resurrection and may allah gateher all the momins with her. Aameen.

She was the Oum L Mou'meneen (Mother of the believers) and she was the one
who fully occupied the prophet's heart, and after her death, the prophet
(P) was praying for her sole every morning before he leaves his house, and
until he died. When she was about to die, Allah (SW) sent her her Kafan
(the cloth to wrap her with) from the haven and the prophet (P) announced
to her that allah's mercy will always be with her during her death ad that
she will be granted a golden house in the haven for all the support she
gave to Islam and the prophet.

Another vertue of Syyedah Khadeejah is that she gave birth to Sayyedah
Fatimah Al Zahra' (AS), the mistress of all ladies and Allah SW made from
Fatimah the continuous progony of the prophet (P) and that was why allah
(SW) has told his prophet: "We gave you the Kawthar (a lot of every good
thing including the progony)" and "Inna Sha'ne'aka Howa L Abtar (whoever
hates you is the one who will be with no progony), that was because after
the death of his boys, the mushriks were joyfull of the prophet's
sadness. So today the prohet's children from Khadeejah are all over the
world.

So Dear brother, Alhamdulillah LLathee Hadaana Lehaatha.

Waraqa is described, more or less as a "scholar". He is stated to have
translated the Gospel into Arabic and Hebrew. He was Khadija's cousin I
believe.

Additionally, she was influenced enough by him to immediately take Muhammad to
him after Muhammad's experience with the spirit in the cave and his suicide
attempt.

Many of the Arab tribes in Arabia were Christianized. A large concentration of
pagans lived in the Hijaz, but to the North, South and East, there were
Christianized tribes living in the Area. There were also Christians and Jews
living in Mecca. The influence of Christianity could not possibly have been
missed by Muhammad.

I have heard that there are some early writings that state that Khadija was a
Christian, but I have not seen them. I know of no writings that state she was
Christian. However, it is possible because of her relation to Waraqa, and the
positive attitude she had towards him when Muhammad had his visitation.

Khadijah had Christian relatives. Her actual faith prior to embracing Islam is
technically unknown.

No,

Sayyedah Khadejah Alkobra (the great Khadejah) was Haneefah, among the Honafa'
those who worship only Allah (SW) on the way of Prohet Ibrahim (AS). Please save
yourself from committing a sin by denying the great place of this great OM L
Mo'menin, who did not perform Shirk.
