What is sin ?
What is original sin ?
Why is "God", Jesus" or some such supernatural entity a valid standard to
compare us mortals to ?
Am I , and if I am , Why am I accountable for the sins of Adam and Eve ?
Is there anything wrong with the following statement:
If I do wrong to someone .. either knowingly or unknowingly
I am responsible to that person for correcting that wrong ask
for forgiveness etc, and no one else supernatural or otherwise.
I appriciate youyr replies but please keep in mind I am an agnostic .. the
Bible has no more value or authority in stating facts other than that of
a document of history that is biased toward the christian religion.
thanx a bunch for your anticipated replies ..

Sin is actually an old archery term that means 'fall short'. This is what
Paul means when he says that all mean have fallen short of the glory of
god. Romans 3:23

We should try to live up to Jesus standards for two reasons:
1) He created us in his own image, therefore we should strive to be like
the master
2) He paid for us. By dying on the cross he paid with blood so that we
could have eternal life.

Although forgiveness from someone you have wronged is important it is not
the only path to forgiveness. We should strive for that forgiveness, but
humans error so we may not always recieve it from men. However, God is
faithful and can forgive.

Sin is actually an old archery term that means 'fall short'. This is what
Paul means when he says that all mean have fallen short of the glory of
god. Romans 3:23
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
So what this means is that God is punishing the creatures he created for
not being gods? That would be like me withholding one of my workers paycheck
and then fireing him the next week for being unable to afford nice clothes
to wear on the job. It sounds like maddness.

In this part of the story Dante examines each of the deadly sins in turn,
starting with Pride and ending with Lust. It is explained how evil actions
are derived from the deadly sins, which are all based on healthy human appetites
and ambitions but have been inflated, diminished or otherwise corrupted in
some manner.
Or course, the poetry is rather beautiful in itself.

Death has come to all because all have sinned (Romans 5:12), but we sin
because we have a sinful nature which was inherited from our first parents,
Adam and Eve. We were not born with a pure nature but a sinful one. So
we sin because by nature we are sinners.
>> Why is "God", Jesus" or some such supernatural entity a valid standard to

You and I were created in the image of God. Our purpose is to reflect the
nature and character of God and thus bring him glory. Thus, to sin is to
disgrace his holy name. Imagine holding up a photograph of yourself that
you made to a great audience and saying 'this is what I'm like.' If the
photo was changed to that of an ugly ogre, it would be a disgrace to you.
>> Am I , and if I am , Why am I accountable for the sins of Adam and Eve ?
You are accountable only for the sins you commit.

Once again, because you are created to represent God by your life, when
you sin against another person you are also sinning against God because
your actions are to tell a story of what God is like.

Lawlessness, i.e. disobedience to God.
> What is original sin ?
Our inherited tendency to sin, i.e. our "sin nature" which all
humans share from birth.
> Why is "God", Jesus" or some such supernatural entity a valid standard to

God created us as moral beings in his image and has a right to set the
standard. Since we are made in his image, he can be the standard.
> Am I , and if I am , Why am I accountable for the sins of Adam and Eve ?
You are accountable only for your own sin. As far as I know, the
Bible doesn't hold you responsible for anyone else except your
children if you are a parent.

You are certainly responsible to that person, but you are ultimately
responsible to God for violating his rule of conduct.

Why ask the questions if you are going to rule out, a priori, the
source for the answers?
Which kind of death? Physical or spiritual?
Death is a state of not living. Living is a state of fulfilling the purpose.
As used in the case of a car, 'death' or spoilt is the state of not
functioning. Functioning is the state of fulfilling the pupose of the car.
The fall brought about death means that it causes us human lost the
position to fulfill our purpose.
We sin because we are born in a sinful state. A sinful state means that
the condition is set where Satan can influence us. When our acts were due
to influences from Satan, these acts are sins.
There are two types of nature in us, one is the fallen nature that tends
to make us act in ways that are agreeable to Satan and also the original
nature from God that tends to make us act in ways that are agreeable to God.

Wrong, my friend. When Adam transgressed in the Garden, God had warned
him that in the day that he partook, he would DIE. We know that he did
not die a "physical" death, but died a spiritual death. And from Adam onward,
all men are born "physically" alive, but are "spiritually" dead. This does
not preclude that spiritual life may precede physical life, as we know
that John leaped in his mother's womb.
John 3 says we MUST BE born again, i.e. born spiritually. There may be
a lot of confusion and disagreement as to the means by which this process
is accomplished (by our or God's initiative), but the clear Biblical truth
is apparent that we must become "spiritually aware" We are physically
born with only ONE NATURE, and that is of fallen man.
The trichotomy of Man is that their is the Carnal flesh (the robe of sinful
flesh), the soul, and the spirit. All three are in a state of condemnation,
alien from God. It is God, through Jesus Christ which makes us a New Creature.
He gives us a heart of flesh, and his spirit dwelling within us. Therein
lies the warfare each born again child of God experiences. The spirit of
God within at odds with the Carnality. The process never ends until natural
death occurs, and the soul and spirit go to God, and the body to the Grave.

I don't understand. Which part of my previous post that you referred to
as 'wrong?
What is the 'life' (or you don't call life, then the 'state') of Moses and
Elijah when they met with Jesus, if there is no spiritual life after the
physical death?
A car is 'alive' when it is able to function. Thus a man is alive when he
is able to function in accordance to God's, the creator's, purpose. Thus,
the spiritual death of Adam and Eve is they ceased to function spiritually
in accordance to God's purpose of creating them. Simple and logical.

Have you read it? It is not 'my' interpretation but the true
understanding that is confirmed by God and revealed to all through Rev. Moon.
Btw, the 'one nature' part does sound like 'your' interpretation.
