Hi everyone:

I transcribed this hymn from a priest who was unable to remember the
composer and author. If anyone can help, I'd be grateful. Here are the
refrain and first two verses:

Refrain

Zion!
Holy mountain, holy city
Lead me on
to my father,
Sacred road.
I set my face like flint for you, Jerusalem
My greatest joy

V.1 Cast off this bridle and bit
Cast off these bonds of my sin
Awake my soul with the dawn
This day to freely praise your king

V.2 And I have counted the cost
I want to leave all behind
I want to drink from your cup
And be baptised in your fire

etc, 2 more verses.

Thanks in advance

best wishes

The one you are on about is by Ann Liddell and the full hymn goes like
this:

Zion!
Holy Mountain, holy City lead me on
To My Father...
Scared road,
I set my face like flint for you Jerusalem
My greatest joy!

1. Cast off this bride and bit
Cast off these bonds of my sins

Awake my soul with the dawn

This day to freely praise your King!

2. And I have counted the cost

I want to leave all behind

I want to drink of your cup
And be baptised with your fire!

3. Yahweh was pleased to crush You Lord
If You would give your life for mine
Daughter of Zion ...rejoice!
For greater love hath no man!

4. "I am who am" commissioned you
Say "Captive Israel be free"
Tell Egypt "Let my people go"
And lead them out to victory!
