Thanks be unto God for his unspeakable Gift --- 2 Cor. 9:15

****************************************************
"Unto God." Whoever that "God" may be . . .

William Henley wrote,

"I thank whatever God may hear
"For my unconquerable soul"

No; not that God.

Sometimes, rarely, the speaker might actually know who He is. That
speaker is one of those persons who will be with Him forever in glory.

1. Now, who is He? (circle correct answer)

A. The Providence of every last thing that is good.
B. The Lord Jesus Christ.
C. The Judge of all the earth.
D. All of the above.

ANSWER: James 1:17, John 8:24,58, Genesis 18:25, cf John 5:22-26.

"for His unspeakable Gift."

2. Now, what IS that Gift?

A. for this fine day, You've given us.
B. for this food which we have set before us.
C. for all our friends gathered round this table.
D. None of the above.

ANSWER: Romans 6:23, cf 1 John 5:13. All the above are indeed gifts
of God (James 1:17 above); but they are PLURAL in nature, and
therefore disqualify. "His unspeakable Gift" is something singular:
something "one and only"

3. Is it important to know the answer?

A. no; it's what's in our hearts, and our thoughts, that count.
B. no; God loves us, and accepts all who are sincere.
C. yes; our destiny forever depends on our knowing the answer.
D. none of the above.

ANSWER: John 4:10-11, 2 Thessalonians 1:7-9, John 3:36.

4. Why is it called "unspeakable?"

A. No one can tell how great it is (John Gill)
B. It is blasphemy to even use His Name.
C. Its cost to God was/is infinite.
D. A and C above.

ANSWER: Perhaps, eg, 2 Corinthians 12:4, etc (A), John 3:16,
Zech. 13:7 (C)? B is only a Jewish idea (not that there's anything
wrong with that, per se, except "if they speak not according to THIS
Word, it is because there is no light in them"); and logically, if you
know A and C, that renders B an impossible answer, among the choices.

Scripture clearly states the Lord Jesus is God (eg John 8:24,28, Luke
2:11-14, Heb. 1:6 (the commentators' whitewashing notwithstanding),
etc. And Prophecy states that the Jews will look at Him Whom they
have pierced, 2000 years after the event. The marks are still there
in His hands, and will be, forever. He has become a MAN, forever,
as a requirement of His Gift forever, for us! An infinite cost, right
there, for starters.

This is something all the blasphemers miss, who point out the many
Scriptures pointing to His humanity and assert that therefore He
cannot be God. What they miss is the basic Truth of The Incarnation.

And they miss it willfully, and always will, until they are "born
again," because Truths like those are SPIRITUALLY DISCERNED
(1 Cor. 2:14).

"Thou dids't leave Thy Throne," the godly songwriter wrote. Yet "Thy
Throne O God, is forever and ever." Yet it appears that that Throne
will be that of a Man. --- A subject for study. And "Of the increase
of His Government and Peace, there shall be no end. The zeal of the
Lord of Hosts will perform this."

"His Government" is that which His Children will enjoy forever. And
the "Peace" associated with it is something we have never known, and
cannot comprehend. "Peace" means "union;" (cp Ephesians 2, after vs
11). Union ---with Him --- unimaginable!!! It doesn't merely say
that those things will be forever; it says that THE INCREASE of those
things will be forever!

They will start out as PLEASURES (Psa. 16:11) beyond anything anyone
that has ever lived in this world could have ever imagine (where did
the pleasures we HAVE had come from?) and every other good thing, and
the next day be better! And the next day better yet! etc.

Scripture tells us to set our affection on things above, and not on
the things now: the things on the earth.

And THEN we will find what Thanksgiving is about.
