Relatively few are saved.
It was so before the Flood.
It was so after the Flood.
And when Israel came out of Egypt,
relatively few were saved.
And when Israel was in the Promised Land,
it was the same.
When Christ came on earth,
he showed his great glory,
but still only few were saved.
When Paul preached to the nations,
it was still few.
And within one century,
trust in their own "righteousness"
by those who professed to be Christians,
was widespread,
and remained so for over a thousand years.
Then when the Reformation came,
though many professed to believe the Gospel,
relatively few actually trusted Christ alone.
And within one century,
again trust in own "righteousness" was widespread.
Today the thousands of denominations have no idea
what the real Gospel is except for a few of the early ones,
and even those cloud up the Gospel
so people trust in their own "righteousness" anyway.

Nevertheless, the Lord Jesus always has a saved remnant
that even today he causes to trust in him alone
to be their Substitute, their righteousness and salvation,
and those few millions will be taken in the Rapture
when Christ comes unseen by the world for his own.
But the tens of millions who merely profess
to trust in Christ alone will not be taken,
as also the hundreds of millions
who profess to be Christians
but do not even profess to trust in Christ alone.
During the generation of the global Tribulation,
over a hundred million will be saved,
though yet relatively few out of the billions on earth,
for the great harvest of souls
at the coming of Christ in glory in the skies.
After the Tribulation, during the generation
of the gathering of Israel by Christ on earth,
a remnant of Israel will be saved
along with a remnant of the nations,
to enter into the Millennial world.
After the long final generation of
the thousand years of the Millennium,
when the nations rebel against Christ,
again a remnant will be saved.
So it is always relatively few who are saved.

Do not be deceived by the false "gospel"
of "salvation" by surrender that is so popular today;
that makes people feel saved
so that they shut out the real Scriptural Gospel,
the imputation of the righteousness of Christ,
that Christ showed the world
to enable the Protestant Reformation.
That real Gospel has almost once again
been driven from the face of the earth
after centuries of onslaught by the deceiver.
Nevertheless,
the real Gospel is still to be found on Christian newsgroups,
though there being disregarded, mocked, and assailed,
and is at my website that has not the pomp of the world,
but has the Gospel.

Salvation by works. It's not enough to profess, but
one must profess _rightly_ and/or _sincerely_ or
it doesn't count.
