Christ showed Luther that Scriptural justification
for salvation is by faith alone that trusts Christ
to impute his own righteousness to us so
that he regards it as though it were ours.
Luther said that so long as such justification
is correctly presented, the church will have
no sects, but that without that, there will
be a multitude of error (Solid Declar. 3:6)

The Reformers rightly discarded much
from the Catholic church that took trust
away from Christ, but retained some other
that eventually had the same result, namely,
infant baptism, glorification of sacraments,
and glorification of repentance though not as
causing justification but as if a precondition
(Solid Declar 3:23) or as its inevitable effect
(Institutes, vol 3, ch 3, sec 1).

Because justification has been so clouded up
by the few denominations that once knew it,
and replaced by the many that never knew it,
today there are thousands of Protestant sects,
including numerous Lutheran and Presbyterian.

The sheer number of denominations should
be enough by itself to motivate those who
profess faith alone in Christ alone to find out
whether they are merely professing it or
actually have it: Find out at my website.

Martin Luther was a rabid anti-Semite who advocated that Jews be
eliminated and synagogues burned. Hitler was to quote him in
justification for his "Final Solution". This and a New Testament bias
against Jews led to the holocaust. If this is the result of grace-
righteousness, we ought to return to works-righteousness, wherein, as
so succinctly state by rabbi Hillel, we don't do to others what we'd
hate done to us.
