a gay couple have become the first same-sex married couple in latin
america - initially planning to get married in buenos aires on world
aids day, they were blocked; but gummint officials in tierra del fuego
used a grey area in law to let them marry there.

A Catholic bishop called this "an attack on human survival." Because
gays don't reproduce.

Of course, Catholic bishops - if they're following Church rules -
don't reproduce either. Aren't the celibacy/chastity rules for
Catholic priests and nuns also an attack on human survival?

Of course, gays do manage to reproduce all the time. But even if they
didn't, there are enough straight couples having kids to keep the
human race going, going, going.... The bishop seems to be thinking: if
we let one couple have a same-sex marriage, then EVERYONE will want to
do it. But that doesn't seem likeley to me.

I'm not so sure about that. I mean, men, yeah -- men
aren't going to be swayed by a few homos marrying. But,
what about the women?

I suspect that just one look at a gay couple and most
women will want to marry each other, or their pets...
household furniture items... old clocks.

You know how women are. They're slaves to fashion, at
the mercy of every trend. As soon as they get used to
seeing gay marriages they'll be demanding gay "Mixed
race" marriages, and then gay "Starter marriages," just
like they did in the case of real marriage.

Mark my words, the feminist won't rest until they've
destroyed the institution of the family, and marriage
is in their way.

well, speaking of ruining the institution of marriage -- I think this
one should actually be filed under "end of year humour news", but I
have no reason to believe the facts are incorrect.

The Beeb is reporting that a 50yr old man from Jerusalem has set an
Israeli record by getting his *eleventh* divorce. That is not a typo,
we're talking one-less-than-a-dozen.

but apparently (and this is my correlation, and probably the good
bishop's, not the Beeb's) it's *homos* who are damaging the
institution of marriage.

read all about it:

(he's married *11* times? isn't one definition of insanity, doing the
same thing over and over expecting different results?)

civilisation, laughing the while

That defender of traditional values, Karl Rove, had his 2nd divorce
announced today.

Writing "one less than a baker's dozen" would have been more fun.

You can't claim that this guy is damaging the institution of marriage;
after all, he's increased the total number of marriages by at least
11. (Unless you want to argue that the institution suffers wear and
tear by overuse.)

it would, but that'll have to wait until he's had divorce number 12.
At the rate he's going, that should be sometime around late summer,
2011.

Now that *is* shocking -- that there's not just one, but *two* women
who'd marry him.

Congradulations to the newly weds!!
They now have their freedom. What more would a couple want before
having kids if they want kids? Christ calls us all in mysterious ways.

"The Gnostic Gnashed the Gnarly Gnat."

....kinda makes you want a gnaw, huh?

Anyway, are Gnostics related to Gnomes? You can't
deny the similarity. Well, except for the hats.

Gnomes wear those funky hats.

I have this theory that the hats are more than
symbolic here. That, the two cultures were once
one, but over time many drifted from the mostly
agrarian (Gnostic) lifestyle to the urban trades,
primary haberdashery (Gnomes). Eventually these
two groups diverged to the point where they
"Evolved" their own unique ethnic identity.
