And I thought I was cynical..;-0 Different cases of pedophilia need
to be looked at differently. In the instance of the man that propositioned
me outside of Fenway Park when I was a kid, it was definitly a case
of *homosexual* pedophilia. You're certainly under no obligation to
buy it, and you can even convince yourself that it is strictly a case
of my having a "marriage of convenience" situation that allows me to
justify my homophobia...whatever floats your boat...

In his speech Just Logic harangues his audience on the
virtues of sexual continence and modesty, but falls into
such anatomical and erotic detail that his own unchaste
drives are apparent to all: his own vision of throngs
of well-muscled, bronzed young men has inspired in him
the kinds of lust that would be found in the most sexually
aggressive member of the audience.

Why is that? Pedophilia is defined simply as a sexual attraction to
children. I've never seen separate labels or classifications of it
depending on the gender of the parties involved, and while it is true that
some pedophiles are gender-exclusive, to liken this to what we normally
call homosexuality (or for that matter, heterosexuality) is a bit of a
stretch, wouldn't you say?

>In the instance of the man that propositioned

No, more properly speaking it was a case of *pedophile* pedophilia. You're
confusing two very different types of sexuality here, Walter. And I ask
you, is it at all important whether it was "homosexual" or "heterosexual"?
Does it really make any difference? Would it have been less traumatic had
it been a woman instead? If you were approached by a pedophile, it was
primarily because you were *young*, not because you were male. That *is*,
as I said above, the primary motivation. You cannot reasonably extrapolate
from this incident that the man was a homosexual, or can you?

Remember, the original question here was why homosexuality is so often
associated with child molesting. I presented what I think is a plausible
theory. I'm not sure at all that I see what your point is in what you're
saying. I'm sure the experience must have been very disconcerting for you,
but it shouldn't blind you to the fact that "heterosexual" pedophilia exists
in abundance as well. Why is it then that gays are so easily associated
with this behavior while straights are not?

Again, Walter, you're making an erroneous leap of logic. If this incident
should indeed allow you to justify anything, I would think it should be
"pedophilaphobia". What I'm asking you to realize is that pedophiles of
whatever stripe are not the same as those of us, both gay and straight,
who enjoy adult sexual relations exclusively. It is a sexuality unto
itself. To associate it with any other form of sexual behavior is not only
unfair, but inaccurate.
