He was much, much more progressive than any other president
in my lifetime, including FDR.
He was nowhere near so retrogressive as Nixon, Reagan, or
either Bush.

Go fuck yourself, shit-for-brains. Before the election people
could get married in California.
Please step in front of a bus and put us out of your misery.

Ruined my day, at any rate. I'm especially distressed by the
California African-American vote on Prop 8, 70% yes to 30% no.
As hate begets hate and violence begets violence, so does
bigotry beget bigotry. My sense is that these things are
manifestations of one underlying idea, disempowerment.
The systemic disenfranchisement represented by racism tends to
narrow the victims' social focus (Jack Carroll's comments are
spot on here).
It's good that an African American has finally been elected to
the presidency, but I wish it had been a far more principled
person, committed to equality for all citizens.

Sotto voce, of course. He might have tried a little leadership
in California, for instance.

Correction: I said
> Bigots won [] in Arkansas (anti-same-gender adoption).
While explicitly banning adoption by gay/lesbian couples,
the law also bans adoption by unmarried straight couples.

Get raped, you senile piece of crap.
If you think of it -- which your rust encrusted brain clearly did
not -- you just said that the new America IS WORSE than
the old America!
....but you've got your wrinkled old nose shoved too far up
Obumhole to notice.
Congratulations, retard. I hope you're really enjoying the fruits
of your political victory.... because no more gay couples are
going to be enjoying marriage in California for a very long time,
thanks in part to the cowardice of your god.
Oh, what's that? You CAN you spell out for us Obhumhole's
sincere actions in direct response to an Yes-On-8 campaign
waged in his name? No? My mistake. Well, actually it's
YOUR mistake, but apparently you're not nearly man enough
to admit.
Again, congratulations.

.....and you'll be there soiling your depends every
time someone points out Obumhole doing it.
Enjoy the fruits of your labor! California, that is.

I'm starting to feel a little more philosophical about it. It's a
setback, for sure, but it's one that I'm positive will eventually be
corrected.
