Q: two different bear code systems

Okay, I have on my amiga's hard disk two different bear code systems.
Both of them use letters to indicate the quality being described.
One uses "--" to "++" to indicate scale, the other uses "0"-"9".
The bear codes I see used in signatures on here all seem to be of
the former variety, even though the latter bear code system seems
to be much more descriptive.

Why is that?

I dunno, but *everyone* seems to be using the ++ -- codes. For more
information you can contact dy...@spdcc.com or be...@spdcc.com to get on
the Bear Mailing List. spdcc.com also has the most current bear codes as
well as some pics of some of the bears on the list.

You probably have an old version or something, because there are updates
around. Still, they more or less mean just the same thing, so I shouldn't
really complain! (*grin*)
