A Sydney woman who pleaded guilty to aiding or abetting the suicide of her
ailing partner will not serve further jail time.
Shirley Justins has already served the 22-month periodic detention sentence
imposed on her in November 2008 after a jury found her guilty of the
manslaughter of former pilot Graeme Wylie.
The 71-year-old died from a lethal dose of the drug Nembutal, after Justins
put an open bottle of it within his reach.
So she's served the sentence imposed on her for a conviction that was
then overturned, and the judge takes that into consideration when
sentencing her for the related charge to which she's pleaded guilty,
concluding that she shouldn't have to suffer further punishment.
I'm at a loss to know how that leads to your stated conclusion that
"Killing Husband (sic) Is (sic) Now Legal In (sic) Australia"
Sylvia.
You retard.
He was terminally ill, wanted to be euthanised. It was an act of love
to help him go knowing that she would be harrased by the law.
A very harsh judgement on your part and seriously distorting your
extracted quote, beyond recognition.
If we could only get rid of you religious nut cases the terminally ill might be
allowed as much dignity, and as little suffering, as the Smith's pet rabbit.
That you would prefer the woman's husband to suffer in pain, till the day your
"god" deigned fit to end it, speaks volumes for your xtian care for your fellow
man.
Your zealotry disgusts me.

"When one person suffers from a delusion, it is called insanity. When
many people suffer from a delusion, it is called Religion."
Robert M. Pirsig
Where did she get the drug?
It is absurd that this woman was punished for giving him a *choice*.
Religious idiots shouldn't express any opinion as you don't *have* one.
That's not very democratic of you.
It's on special at Target.
You should take a course in Religious Logic. Everything will be so much
clearer.
While you are right in criticising the lenient treatment of
women that kill their husbands, you appear to have chosen a
singularly poor example! This appears to be a case of
euthanasia, which whatever your feelings about it is not the
same as murder and is not done for the same reasons.

It's not a case of euthenasia. This woman was not guilty of killing anyone,
but pleaded guilty to aiding and abetting a suicide.
