Today I was at the fitness center and noticed a "joke" poem on the bulletin
board. I've found it all over the web so I don't think it is copyrighted:

A Woman's Poem
He didn't like the casserole
And he didn't like my cake.
He said my biscuits were too hard...
Not like his mother used to make.
I didn't perk the coffee right
He didn't like the stew,
I didn't mend his socks
The way his mother used to do.
I pondered for an answer
I was looking for a clue.
Then I turned around and smacked the shit out of him...
Like his MOMMA used to do.

I told the person working there that I found it disturbing that it seemed
to be promoting domestic violence. From the expression on her face she
didn't understand what the problem was, although she did take it down and
throw it out. However, when I asked her to imagine a similar poem about a
man hitting a woman, she didn't have any trouble comprehending that would
be wrong and offensive.

My 21 year old son was with me, since we had gone to work out together. He
was mostly embarrassed about his mom "making a scene" over something that
was supposed to be just a joke. We talked about it in the car as we drove
home and I think that I convinced him that it was serious enough to take a
stand about.
