other studies have said that our IQ's have gone up from previous
generations. which one are we supposed to belive?

Do you know any public figure or institution that celebrates smart folks and gives them metaphorical pats on the head? or maybe a McDouble? I doubt it. Rewards such as high paying jobs or internet fame are for the fashionable and well connected. Smart ain't in it.
