Hello.

this will definetly be of interest for you.

I was trying to explain the meaning of Adolf Hitler愀 real name
"Schicklgruber" to an english friend of mine today. I ve been looking
through almost any english-written site with the word "Schicklgruber"
in it to prove Danny (that s his name) my knowledge but I could not
find any direct translation of his name but "probably means fly
swatter" on http://www.knowalot.com/mrk-kevin.html. I almost think
that the definition of his real name is not known at all to people who
do not know austrian (or bavarian as I do) and not known to english
speaking people at all...this is the reason why I write here into
soc.history, because obviously nobody knows about the REAL translation
of the name.

It s a laugh (a laugh that hurts a bit) to read that "Schicklgruber"
would "probably" mean "fly swatter", because truth is much more absurd
and the translation "fly swatter" mystifies Hitler much more than he
already has been mystified.

I ve got to say before that following explanation is definetly true,
ask any historian about it who knows austrian or bavarian (or anybody
who speaks these dialects). This is NO JOKE!

So - here s the definition:
Schickl means Scheisse (German) means shit (or more defined "liquid
manure")
Gruber means Graeber (German) means digger

So Schicklgruber means: shit digger

Historical background: It is proven that the name SCHICKLGRUBER once
upon a time was given to the people who had to dig the holes for
burying the liquid manure (eg of a village, of the cattle) in it. This
is the main reason why Adolf decided to change his name to Hitler.

So, let s face it: A. Hitler not only was a real shitty guy but also
had a really "shitty" name...the world should know that.

Best, DG

ask any historian about it who knows austrian or bavarian (or anybody

So - here s the definition:

"Schickl" is very colloquial and means Scheisse (col. German), that

means shit (or more defined "liquid manure")
Gruber means Graeber (German) means digger

So Schicklgruber can be translated (as colloquial as the name really
is): shit digger

Historical background: It is proven that the name SCHICKLGRUBER once

burying the liquid manure (eg of a village, of the cattle) in it. This

I ve gotta take that statement back:

Indeed: Schicklgruber means "shit digger", but it was not Adolf but
Alois. Adolf Hitler probably (although it couldn t be proven a 100%)
never had the name "Schicklgruber", but his father A.Hitler (=Alois
Hitler). I m very sorry for my premature statement, although the
family - history of Adolf Hitler is full with absurdities, as I
learned to know inbetween.

To my excuse there are really a lot of websites (and texts)
proclaiming that Adolf Hitlers name would have been "Schicklgruber",
although this cannot be an excuse for my mistake.

Sorry for the probably only 1/2 true - information.

Actually, Adolph's grandfather's name was Hedler, which Hitler adopted and
then changed it to Hitler because it sounded more authoritarian. But I'm
sure that he was descended from shit diggers because that's all that ever
came out of his mouth.
