It was called an 'engine'...
I posed the same question in a modeling group in regards to heaters in
fighters. Thought it might not be feasible as the cockpits were not
completely closed off from the fuselage. It appears that they did use
the exhaust system to offer some type of heating. Not sure though if
they were able to turn it off while in hot theaters.

For the Americans, I believe the M48 was the first to be fitted with a warm
air heater. I think it was linked in with the NBC over-pressure system.
For the Brits, I think the first to be fitted with a crew heater might well
have been the Challenger. I've read complaints from Chieftain crews about
the lack of a heater but I've also seen one advertised on eBay. Anyone know
for sure?
Some aircrew used electrically heated suits.

Jeffery Quill in his biography made the statement
that when the squadron that he was on switched from
the Bristol Bulldog IIA to the Bristol Bulldog lllA
in 1933 he was pleased to see that the lllA
had wheel brakes and a cockpit heater!
