George III probably had type II Diabetes Mellitus. It has been speculated that he had porphyria. He was extremely obese which highly predisposed him to type II diabetes. He exhibited many of the physical and mental signs and symptoms of diabetes mellitus including stomach pain, eventual blindness (diabetic retinopathy), dementia, mental illness and mental instability, peripheral (arm and leg) pain, and many others. The excellent movie, "The Madness of King George", goes into great depth about the physical, psychiatric, and emotional symptoms of King George's tragic illness.
