Thats why the Rec Centre in Bridgend is not having a New Years Eve do
this year , cos its a Regional Emergency Centre.

Was it a Royal Observer Corps bunker? Most of those were sold off in
the mid '90s when the corps was disbanded. You won't find much
information about them before the sale, because they were very hush
hush, but I remember quite a few articles in the press at the time of
the sale.
Brackla also has, or had, a huge sprawling WWII explosive works with
underground train tunnels, blast shelters, bunkers and so on. They
were busily demolishing and burying it when I last visited.

The bunker was a civil defence Regional Government Headquarters, yes it was
sold in the mid 90's

There are still reminants of the old ROF buildings, the magazines are
partially covered and demolished. But it looks like they had a tiny bit of
trouble drilling through the ferro concrete roof! Seems they gave up!
Bunkers 1 to 4 ish are covered but either the right hand or left hand
tunnels have been excavated for some reason and you can gain access to them
if you are brave enough.
