What an splendid opportunity for the United States to lead and keep leading
in finding solutions to the difficult problems we face in this world.

What true and real leader would squander the opportunity to lead the world
in understanding climate change, and they shaping the policies to contain the
consequences?

Beach boys should be worried, the beach is getting smaller.

Just because they won't live to see the worst of it, they should not think
it's not happening. In one or two generations it may well be too late.

Most predictions about climate change are turning out to be optimistic and the
time scale wrong. It's happening faster than we thought.

The situation was beautifully summed up when the G7 took a stroll in Messina,
Sicily -- which Patton famously took before Monty. This time it was a different
sight, not quite so triumphant... Six of the G7 leaders went together for a
brisk walk in the historical city,... and Trump followed them in a golf car.

Which reminds me how fit Obama was, both as president and physically. The man
is all fiber. It also reminds me that I would like it very much if the next
president we elect does not play fucking golf.

It's hilarious to watch this no-leader we have as president and how some Americans continue to put him on a pedestal.

Mr. Hines explained his support of Trump as, because he will bear gifts,
like more conservative justices for the Supreme Court. It's the only thing
that conforms to reason, if you are ready to sell out your convictions, that is.

Thus he likes Trump the way he likes Santa Claus. Trump is forcing Republicans
like Mr. Hines to keep adjusting their standards, put an emphasis on team loyalty, and normalize and accept previously unacceptable behavior.

There is a price to pay for that at the end of the line. Not least the fact
that as a less-than-wealthy beach boy, Mr. Hines shall suffer, rather than
enjoy, the consequences of a system he so gleefully champions.

Why would an honorably discharged Navy officer who loves his country and whose
beach-combing days offer much opportunity for reflection, be so enamored with
a clueless, fat, small-fingered vulgarian who is trampling our republic?

Thanks for that.

First thing I read, however... "After Trump's disastrous vacation..."

I know what to expect, more partisan hysteria. I only like Democrats
slightly better than Republicans, and I'd prefer "old" Republicans, the current
ones have lost the plot, and Dems suffer from talent vacuum.

It's not a time of great political figures...

Trump's trip was a non-disaster. It wasn't marvelous but it could have been
much worse. Let us call a spade a spade. And yes he is a flimflam man and there
is no reason to believe anything that tumbles from his lips.

Policy-wise was a missed opportunity for global progress, if not a defeat for
humanity.

NATO members should pay their dues, unless major cause, none have one, and
their membership should be de-facto suspended until they pay up. But Trump
should have reassured those who are current in their contribution of our full support, and he didn't. It's a failure.

That is, of course, if we, the USA, pay our dues also, do we? How about the UN
dues?

Unless we do we should shut up, but if we are immaculate then let's lean on the
delinquent Europeans.

It would be interesting to know Trump's justification to pull out of the Paris Accord.

It appears all accord members are free to set their targets for the reduction
of emissions. Why can't he just adjust those, instead of leaving the club?

Trump has made Mr. Hines the Abbot to my Costello and a pattern is forming...

Me:

"Who are you going to believe next week, Trump or Comey"

Him:

"The President Of The United States (POTUS)"

Me:

"Who do you believe our intelligence agencies or Trump?"]

Him:

"The President Of The United States (POTUS)"

The prez has a senior moment and fat-fingers a tweet in the AM... and
falls asleep at the switch... (and gets 170,000 likes, [Oh boy!])

Him:

"Trump's a word-smith. Bravo!"

--

World leaders take Trump aside and caution him about certain campaign promises...

He doesn't listen too closely... For example, saying he is for
moving the US embassy in Israel, doesn't rhyme with his apparent intention
of resolving the Middle East conflict. He will soon let us know that it's a
rather 'complicated' matter, just in case you were having a siesta in the last
60 years.

No lawyer on Earth, it is clear, has the huevos to take the tweeting machine
from the twit-in-chief.

Obama was a successful president by any measure.

After the Iraq calamity, he understood the country needed a break from war,
and tried to reduce the blood and treasure spent on it.

Hawks don't like that.

In his zeal to dismantle Obama's legacy -- as if he could -- Trump is trashing
net-neutrality, the Paris agreement (apparently) and taking all the petty
revenge actions a spoiled and vindictive child would.

Come November Trump will send his goons out to round up all the turkeys Obama
pardoned for Thanksgiving and execute them summarily. The Purge.

He is demolishing Obama's pyramid to make room for his. It's hilarious.

Obama doesn't look too worried. He is having the biggest chuckle, he knows.

Massachusetts has 2% of the US population and 100,000 jobs in the renewable
energy industry.

In the whole country there are less than 70,000 coal miners.

But Trump has a promise to keep. So the Chinese are static that we are about
to shut the door to climate change. Trump leaves the racetrack clear for China
to capture the lion's share of the global renewable energy market.

Instead, if we had a leader of vision for the 21st century, we could add
millions of new jobs in every state since this industry does not depend on
where coal is found. These are the years to seize the moment.
