the trebuchet superior.

I don't find the comparison at that URL. But not to worry.
Comparing an onanger to a trebuchet is like comparing a
rifle to field artillery.

Well it would if the onagar uses twisted string or rope as a spring.
It's rubbish at storing energy.

Using a steel spring may change things.

However a trebuchet is better because one can be made that can throw a
tonne each shot.
