Recent posts had to do with the descendants of George I
and the Yugoslavian pretender.
This is exactly WHY one should NOT spread newsgroup
discussions to multiple groups.
A check on the archives of this machine shows that most
of our threads come to an untimely end when HWSNbM
arrives hurling personal attacks and religous insults
as he goes.
I fear that the "missing twins" thread has come to
the same end -- without any light being cast.
What folks do is up to them. I have, in general,
refused to participate in any thread in which HWSNbM
is active. I suggest that others may wish to follow
the same.
I would beg all folks who read postings on this newsgroup
to note that HWSNbM's attacks on me are frequently interlarded
with falsehoods and untruths (i.e. lies). This is doubtless
done in an attempt to get me to respond directly to him.
Before accepting his word on anything involving me, I ask
only that folks check the record *first*.
One last thing: I thank all of you who have responded
on my behalf. I'm more grateful than you know.
------ Paul J. Gans [ga...@panix.com]
Which of course was due to your attack on him. Of course it is a matter
of habitual behavior on your part - if a thread has some content and
substance to it, you interject with one of your typical innuendo-filled
rants and it dissolves.
You really are very good at that.

Now, that's probably the best post of the day. Give this man six more
months on SHM as a "Glib" and, if he's still standing, he will be ready
to sign on with the Lancasters, Yorks, Borgias, Clintons or Gingriches.
[Yep, I'll hear from Newt about that screw-up.]

This is not correct. Gans went out of town Wednesday, October 28, and before
he left he posted to this group so that we'd know why we weren't hearing from
him. Since not all newreaders replicate every posting in a timely fashion, it
is possible that Hines overlooked this posting. The AOL newsreader has many
shortcomings, but is remarkably good about capturing all postings, so I did
indeed see it.
Please note that this message is a simple correction of an error of fact.

The difficulty is that though (on my reader, WinVN, at least) you
can kill a source, that leaves the whole thread that stems from it
unkilled. I'm forever stumbling into one of those mare's nests
by "next unread" or "next with same subject".
New plan (in case anyone finds it useful): put "_marked_ unread"
in a noticeable color to guide me in skipping blocks of replies as
well as the offending thread stem.

Darn straight! How could we feel anything but the utmost affection for
the man who gave us our commission.
We need a standard though - How about a pit bull savagely attacking that
noble porcine, "The Pig Ignorant"?

These chaps are no slouches. Perhaps one of the heraldic cognoscenti
could tell us how to properly describe this Coat of Arms? The GLLB
should be armigerous. They've earned these perquisites, for duty above
and beyond the call to the East River Pontificator [ERP].
Gans, if he be a noble and gracious Lord, will also design their livery
and bear a hand in designing the blazon.
It's good to know that "Richard" is also an Australian soccer player.
Smashing! Can someone do it in Corel Draw [8.0?] and post [at a
suitable site] for the East River Pontificator's [ERP's] vetting and
approval?
Gans may even be able to find a Manhattan angel to underwrite the livery
and emblazoning costs ---- perhaps one of those "elitists" he's always
lamenting. You know, like the lumber firms and contractors with the
Little League teams.
Is it possible to work in the "dialectical taffy-pull" without crowding
the frame too much, and making it look tacky?
This Blazon Will Make One Hell of a Screensaver.

Thank you so much for your approval. As always, we aim to please.
Regretfully, I must take my leave of this delightfully witty discussion
that's been going on :). Alas - my "real job" beckons and I will be at a
conference for the next couple of days.
However I did wish to express what a joy it has been to exchange
witticisms with you. I fear that I took an undue amount of pleasure in
it.
Affectionately,

Well, it is good to see everyting is bubbling along as normal
while I am away. Hello gang, I am sitting in a cafe in Dublin on a
glorious sunny morning and, yes, I am having a wonderful time.
Slight hangover though: damn that Guinness and the wicked Canadian
blonde I was boozing with last night. Ain't holidays grand?
Now then, just to clear a few things up, it was *me* who first used
the expression 'pig ignorant' on this group, not Paul Gans.
I don't like insulting people usually, being a cheery and
convivial sort of chap, but I make exceptions in the case
of our favourite silly old bastard, Goodwife Hines. On
another point, Hines, anyone using that fine and noble word
'bastard' (it was part of William I's name after all) is
not speaking like an Australian 'soccer player'. Go back to
your encyclopaedia and look up the section on football codes
again. Idiot.
But enough about that clown, I am now off to the Dublinia
medieval museum at Christ Church Cathedral and then I catch
a train to Belfast and on to Derry and then Donegal to seek
the lands of my forefathers. I have seen enough castles,
cathedrals and ruins to stun a mule, but I will leave the
travelogue to when I get back. Be good, boys and girls,
and don't let any wheezing tedious frauds keep you from
your fun and games. ;>
best regards to you all (well, almost all),
