"Parts of the building were discovered in the past and the Israel
Antiquities Authority is currently exposing another one of the three
halls inside it. It is one of the most magnificent structures from the
Second Temple period ever to be uncovered."

"The edifice is built of very delicately dressed ashlar stones and the
architectural decoration in it is of the highest quality. From an
architectural and artistic standpoint there are similarities between
this structure and the three magnificent compounds that King Herod
built on the Temple Mount, in the Cave of the Patriarchs and at
Allonei Mamre, and from which we can conclude the great significance
that this building had in the Second Temple period."

I have some informed questions -

a) Can we conclude that King Herod had the
building built?

b) Is the miqve Essenic?

If you are informed, why the questions?

I don't answer questions from you from now on
unless you correct your usenet conduct to a
policy of honesty. Eric really put you on the spot;
didn't he?

Until then you are personna non grata.

Also, take it as a challenge to bone up on
archaeology in Israel because you have rarely
shown any such knowledge on sci.arch AFAIK.

Do remember how inadequate your conversation
was, some time back, when you and the non-serious
type person that Tom McDonald is, engaged me on
the archaeology of Mehrgarh. Then again, you contributed
nothing of archaeological conversation re: Niède Guidon etc.
I say that the title of Mr. Archaeology should go to someone
other than you. Maybe Lee Olsen or Ross Clark.

No. The most we can say (in the absence of literary evidence) is that
Herodian style masonry is used, which means that the building dates to
approximately the reign of Herod.

No. Why do you think it might be? 2,000 year old miqveot are
two-a-penny in Jerusalem.
