What is this about? After all these years of well-intentioned plans to
improve Stonehenge for everyone (nearly a century if you follow it
back), a popular, effective and cheap solution has been scrapped by
the government in its first round of project savings.

Hey Mike too bad you did not Dig Deeper years ago under the Heelstone,
the three (3) tunnels and Visitor Centre would be completed by now, O
Well.

I don't know how to say this any more clearly:

If you plan on visiting Stonehenge, don't. If you're going
to anyway, don't pay for admission. Instead, simply
cross the street tand look at it from through the fence.

You're not going to get very close to Stonehenge if you
pay them the 10 pounds.

This is the absolute closest, and it ain't as close as it
looks here:

What you will get is a recorded "Guided Tour" that honestly
has precious little to say (they really don;t know a lot) but
offers ceaseless babble anyway.

And it's a scam. It's not like other historical sites where
they have to keep the masses away. Nope. They actually
DO allow people into the circle itself but for significantly
more money.

It's all about money. The British are horrendous.

If you're in Paris and want to see Notra Dame Cathedral,
that's fine. Go tour the exquisite 650 year old masterpiece.
It won't cost you a dime. Now try to see that West Minister
Abbey eyesore in London. They'll rape you for 15 pounds.

It's not worth it. Seriously. If you';re thinking of wasting
money in the U.K. -- DON'T!

Your best bet is eastern Europe. Much of it was left
relatively intact by WWII. Yes, they were all over-run
by the Nazis and then the Russians, but for the most
part they weren't battlefields.

Well, except for Poland & what was stolen from East
Prussia. of course.

The architecture is beautiful, the prices are reasonable
and they're not all alcoholics. But if you want to act
worse than a drunken shriner, fine. Prostitution in the
Czech Republic is legal.

Avoid the U.K.

Again; don't go to the U.K.

Your money will go much, Much, *Much* further elsewhere,
and you'll see so much more.
