During the Biafra-Nigeria war, it was generally believed that the
Biafran national anthem was written by late Dr. Nnamdi Azikiwe.
However, sometime last year, Jorma Kyppo <jo...@jytko.jyu.fi>
gave the following reply to Cyril Orji's recollection of the
Biafran national anthem.

Cyril Orji wrote:
> LAND OF THE RISING SUN
> =======================

> Land of the rising sun we love and cherish
> Beloved home, land of our great heroes
> Defending thee shall be a dedication
> Spilling our blood we count a privilege
> But if the price is death for all we hold dear
> Then let us die without a shred a fear

Jorma Replied:

So far I know, Biafra used as her anthem the Finlandia by Jean Sibelius.
Are these words meant to that one?

So, since this debate has never been concluded, let me ask again: who
wrote the Biafran national anthem? Who arranged the music? Was the
Biafran anthem adopted from Filandia by Zik? Where can one get a tape
or LP of the anthem? The last time I listened to the anthem was at
a school party in the early 80s. Then, I did not have a music system.

thanks
