There is a reference to a Henry RAWLINS bidding for about £42 worth of land in
Basseterre, St Kitts when it was being redistributed from the French by the
King's Commissioners in 1726 and, of course there is still the beautiful Rawlins
Plantation Hotel on the west side of the Island which I would recommend to
anyone!
Best regards

Ernest,
According to Oliver's "Monumental Inscriptions of the British West
Indies" the following RAWLINS are buried in the churchyard of St. George's,
Gingerland, St. George's Parish, Nevis. Rawlins Estate is also located
in this parish.
p. 86 "In Loving Memory of Elizabeth RAWLINS widow of Stedman Akers
RAWLINS who fell asleep on the 23rd of March AD 1891, aged 76 years"
p. 82 a window in St. George's is dedicated to her memory.
p. 86 "In Loving Memory of Stedman Akers RAWLINS who departed this life
August 28 AD 1850 aged 43* years. Also of Stedman RAWLINS son of the
above who departed this life February 5th 1892 aged 56"
*Oliver's notes "43 is doubtful the figures having been altered."
p. 86 of Stedman RAWLINS he says "He was of the St. Kitts fmily, but
his father and gradnfather appear to have been residents in Nevis.
See pedigree in Caribbeana 5, p. 97."
That's all I have for now.
Sincerely,
Michelle Terrell
