I am searching for descendants of THOMAS HENRY DUMMETT. He was born in BARBADOS in 1774. He married MARY DOUGLAS MORTIMER in 1803.

He served in the British Royal Marines, and had been a sugar planter in BARBADOS. He lived brieflly in Connecticut before settling in FLORIDA in the TOMOKA area.

He moved to ST. AUGUSTINE, and left his holdings to his son DOUGLAS DUMMETT, who cultivated oranges. Some of his groves were on MERRITT ISLAND.

I would like to know who the rest of THOMAS HENRY'S children were, and if there are any descendants still living. Thank you for any information you would be willing to share.

I have been researching TAITT, and there are some Taitts with the name MORTIMER as the middle name. The Taitt family is also from Barbados, there are some 475 entries in the IGI.

Thomas had a daughter Sarah Jane, who married John Houstoun Macintosh Madison. I am their great-great-great granddaughter. There are many more descendants of Sarah.

Katherine, I am a direct descendent of Sarah Jane, also, through Anna Dummett.

I'll be happy to share what I have on the descendants (and ancestors) of
Thomas Henry ; please contact me directly, as I don't post that sort of
detailed nfo on the board (it is too voluminous anyway).

Not sure if this will be of any help, but here goes, I have a Dummett connection: Edward James Dummett m. Rebecca McGrath 20 May 1805 in the Parish of St Michael, Barbados.  Their son Edward James Dummett II chr. 13 Jun 1809, St Michael, B'dos m. 30 Sep 1854 Mary Elvira Ince, St Michael, B'dos.  They had a son Edward James Dummett III chr. 5 Jan 1859, St Michael, B'dos.  Elvira Ince was a descendant of James Ince & Mary Weddington Moll.  The Moll, Ince & Jemmott families are all part of my family tree.

If my Edward James Dummett is a connection for you I would be interested in any further info on that family.

My forebears emigrated from Germany in the 1800s, as many Moll families
did, but the name was already well established in Norfolk, England

I do get asked from time to time if I am related to Molls in Barbados, so
I'm curious as to when and from where they arrived there.

Ernest,

I just found this post from you. I would really appreciate information about Thomas Henry Dummett, particularly about his ancestors since I don't know anything about him prior to his appearance in the Barbados.

Not sure what info shows up in my message. I am at kathari...@hotmail.com

Thank you!
