Cod,

You've probably already seen this-- an 1867 advert for Jamaica

arrowroot mentioning some history of one plantation at http://

tinyurl.com/ly7vsq.

Best, Laura

Everytime I think I know what I;m doing I learn something that advises me

I do not! Ah humility.......

Thanks for the note....the group I am trying to flesh out closed up by 1865

Their plantations mostly were acquired by United Fruit (Lorenzo Dow Baker)

Or were turned to Cocoanut. Some remained in Sugar, some are now pens

One is now a High School.

I am fortunate to find as many impartial trails as I do.

And I thank each of you who offers help along the way.

Cod

Hi Chris

My great grandfather grew arrowroot in St. Vincent from about 1880 to 1900.
I had never heard that it was grown in Jamaica, but after the collapse of
his plantation venture he styled himself as a "General Commission Agent" and
according to his stationery, one of his ports of call was Kingston, Jamaica.
Maybe he had something to do with the Jamaica arrowroot trade but it's after
your timeframe and anyway I have no idea what he traded and only a hazy idea
who his connnections in London were.
