I have finally loaded a copy of Donald Lindo's Genealogy of Jamaica CD
onto my computer. If anyone is interested I can look up some names.

I also have a copy of the CD and was not of the opinion that it was
mostly jewish records......it is for all Jamaicans. Lots of my
husband's ancestors on there because I contributed the information to
Donald. None of the Coopers, Cookes, Figueroas or Ritchies were
jewish, for instance. Although if I could go back 400 years, probably
the Figueroas were.
I say this in the kindest way, but as a lot of the information is
contributed by many people, it would be best to doublecheck it in the
FHC microfilms as some of it may be hearsay, etc. You know...."well,
aunt Rose said that Great-Grandma said that we are descended from King
Henry the Eighth"....and so on.
Cheers,
Heather
Thank you for your very kind offer. I am looking for the birth date and
place of Mary and Jane Savage (born early 1700's) whose parents were Habijah
and Jane (Morgan) Savage. The parents were from Bermuda, but daughter, Jane,
(and maybe Mary) was reported born in Jamaica. Habijah was a ship's Captain
and traveled the West Indies and to America extensively.
The two young girls were later orphaned by pirate action and grew up in
Virginia.
Normally I would send this direct, but there may be someone else "out there"
who can help.
Thank you for your offer.
Edward
There is mention of a deed in Volume 1 of "Caribbeana" dated 1736 under the name
of Habijah Savage.
Other Savage_s are mentioned in the lower-numbered volumes as well.
I hope this is not taken as a crass commercial offering... contact me privately
for the text and other look-ups if you wish.

Debbie:
I have been using Lindo's CD for some time now. I believe it is in its
second edition. I was somewhat surprised that a Lister thought it was
primarily of Jewish Jamaicans as I have found many persons with Cayman Island
connections and have never thought of a Jewish relationship. However, I'll
let Donald speak for himself. He can be reached at de...@colis.com or at
de...@mail.infochan.com
I've found the CD helpful, Donald very cooperative, and the price reasonable.
If you have an interest in Jamaica, I recommend it.

D. Lindo's CD, which I purchased in first edition, was not the answer to all
my research needs, but it has proven very usefull in many ways over the past
two years. Donald is one of the pioneers of on-line Ja Gen and a lovely
person. His work has helped many of us.
