Some Misses Gravesandes were present at the christening of Thomas
Cuming Bagot (my 3 x great grandfather) in Scotland in 1798.
I can only assume that they were friends of the mother Catherine
only daughter of Thos. Cuming of Demerara whom I've traced being in
Demerara back to 1796 when his signature was on 'the surrender of the
colony to his Brittannic [sic] Majesty's forces'.
Gertrude is a name that subsequently appeared in the family and I'd
like to try and 'work out' which of the Gravesande ladies might have
been present. It was a long way to go for a christening!
