Well: The Best of the New year to each of the GREAT folks on this List.

As for me, the Hassell, Holm, Johnson, Simmons, Leverock, Every, Sloterdijk
names on the 3S Islands. St Eustatius, Saba, Sint Maartin. Some of these
folks wound up on St. Kitts, St. Thomas and Barbados.

And please note a new email address after a number of years.

Dear Dean,
A happy New Year to you and all listers.
I am researching Jervis's in Barbados and am particularly interested in
Charles or Henry Jervis who were born 1844 and 1845 respectively and
wondered what happened to them. Any listers who are related to them or Henry
Smith Jervis, their grandfather and owner of Jordans sugar plantation, or
his father John Jervis, I would be interested to hear from.
All the best,

Happy New Year.
Things did not start out well for the Figueroa family of Peterborough, Ont.
One of ours took his own life two days ago. His son is the only male Figueroa of this line to carry the name on. For his sake I hope this year I will be able to complete my trees.
Am searching for Figueroa, dePass, Innerarity, Whorms, Carvalho, Brooks, De Souza, all family and for friends, am searching for Ballintines, Ballintyne, Ballantyne, and Garel connections and duQuesnay. All of Jamaica.

She was related to Margery BURKE, daughter of Edmund BURKE of Curry,

Francis and Mary DENNIS had two daughters, and went to England in the
late 18C.
The Jamaican estates were owned by PALMER and DAWSON in the first part
of the 19C. I suspect they were DENNIS's sons-in-law PALMER and
MASSY-DAWSON, and absentee landlords.

Hi there,

I have been following the list for a few months now but have never posted.
I think your "roll call" is a great idea and I would like to toss my family
names into the mix.

I am looking for information on the following families from Barbados;

Hutchinson, Inniss, Browne, Batson, Goodman, Walton and Bertalan. Our
Hutchinson line came to Winnipeg, Manitoba Canada in the late 1800's/early
1900's - some then relocated to the USA, including New York, Chicago and
Washington State. I, unfortunately, don't know very much about the other
branches of my Barbados family tree. I am particularly interested in the
Browne line.

Hope to find some listers out there who might be connected.

Hi Barb,
I dont see the name Worms or Whorms in your list.
The Whorms arrived in Jamaica in the 1800's. Adele Patience did an extensive study on the Worms family of which she is a part. I have not seen it yet, but I understand she now has done all the German families plus gone back quite a ways. A google search will turn up her web site. You may find it interesting

Hi Derik:

I'm researching the MAGNUS family in Jamaica. A May Adeline Lecesne married
Ralph Archibald Magnus in Spanish Town, St, Catherine, on 11 February 1920.
May Adeline was the daughter of the second marriage of James Celeste Lecesne
to Adeline Selina Gordon, which took place 9 August 1891 a St. Mary's
church, Above Rocks. I have not done too much research back on the Lecesne
line, though interestingly enough, it intersects earlier with the ESCOFFERY
line which I have researched for Steve Hopwood and his cousin, David
Escoffery. I do have a couple of RC records from the Catholic Archives in
Kingston with Lecesne information, which I have not so far had a chance to
organize, but could share with you if you like.

Jenni, the Billy brothers of Vannes, France owned the slaver The Diligent,
which is the subject of Robert Harms' EXCELLENT book <The Diligent, A

Hello Dorothy,

I have bits and pieces on the Lecesne line in Jamaica however I am so far
unable to make a connection to my line. I did make a connection between the
Jamaica line and another line of Lecesne's in the US.

I would appreciate the information you have. Someday I'll make that
connection.

There are several references of the name Lecesne in Jamaica in the Jamaican
family genealogy website run by P Jackson.

I saw one that mentioned a woman who was headmitress of Wolmer's Girls
School circa 1820

Dear List, I am still researching my ALLEYNE family in Barbados.
Lot ALLEYNE married Martha Elizabeth (?Wright) and their son John Foster ALLEYNE 1841/2-28/7/1880 married (4/9/1866) Elizabeth Little (-7/5/1898) in New Zealand.

I believe Lot and Martha had at least 2 other children. I'm not even sure if Martha's surname was Wright; she may not have had a surname registered at all.

thanks for all your help

I'm still looking for PEIXOTTO in Jamaica, especially my ggf, Moses PEIXOTTO
and his brother Abraham b. 1775. There are some records of his children b. as
late as 1918 in the LDS films. Some of these are so illegible (water damage?)
that I can't be sure of the year or the month on any of the entries. There
were also relatives in Amsterdam and London.

Dear Tikwis,

Thanks so much for the McArthur/Earle references in BG.

Regarding the name "Sidney" in BG ... the only one of which I am aware
is contained in "Joseph Sidney McArthur," the focus of my research
there.

I don't know his parents' names yet, but I'm following up on the
marriage information you cited. Hopefully, the full record will
contain that information.

I have very little information on Joseph Sidney McArthur so far,
mostly references to his service in the BG Policy Court, and a few
other bits and pieces.

Let me know if this would be of interest.

Thanks again,
Melanie

I have both uncles who are Hodge and Lake from Anguilla,

The Lake tree I believe is related to Raphael Lake who was a priest on Anguilla and his sister Teacher Isah from the Quarter Anguilla , whilst the Hodge side are from Stoney Ground in Anguilla. In the process of creating a family tree.

Hi,
my maternal grandmother was Euphemia Roland (nee de Freitas) and was born around 1888 maybe in Trinidad. Anyway she lived in Trinidad and was also married there. I have been trying to trace her father without success.
