http://www.nysl.nysed.gov

At the home page, click on 'Research Library.'
Scroll down through the screen until you can click on 'Collections.'
Scroll down again until you reach the section called 'Genealogical

To see the list of New York State newspapers on microfilm (arranged by
county) as well as the State Library's holdings, go through the
following steps once you've accessed the Library's Web site:

- Select Research Library
- Select New York State Library Gopher
- Select Connect to the New York State Library Gopher Main Menu
- Select Full Texts of Publications of the New York State Library
- Select New York State Newspapers on Microfilm Available from the State
Library

The State Library allows anyone to borrow newspapers on microfilm
(except for the New York Times) via interlibrary loan at your local
public/school/college library. The State Library ships up to 5 reels
per request anywhere in the world.

Another site to investigate is that of the New York State Dept. of
Health, the owner of the vital records of New York State:

gopher://gopher.health.state.ny.us/

Hope this advances everyone's research.
