Suggestions for researching in mid-1700s?

I'm currently stuck in my research of my GGGG Grandfather, Joseph
Dyke, mostly because I have very little information to go by,
What I do know is that he was born sometime in the mid-1700s. He later
married (I suspect around the 1780's). Later his wife died.
My better information comes in the 1790's. He married a second time in
1793, this time to Elizabeth Faulkner. They married at St Peter's
Collegiate Church, Wolverhampton, Stafford. The marriage records notes
them both being of that Parish.
In 1795 they had a daughter, Elizabeth. I'm not entirely sure where
she was born, but she was christened in Tettenhall, Stafford.
In 1798 they had a son, Joseph Dyke, who listed Ellesmere, Shropshire
as his birth place on the 1851 Census though I've found that he too
was christened in Tettenhall.
Does anyone have any suggestions about how I could go about
researching Joseph, with a hopes to finding out more about him and
also his parents name? This is my first real stab at researching back
so far so I'm not sure how one goes about it.

PS. For reference I've included the some records below. I searched the
IGI and the Vital Records looking for people who shared his name. I
can't confirm that any of these are him, but they are the only ones I
could find.

* Joseph Dyke married Jane Oliver on 2 September 1782 in Burton upon
