I am trying to find out where my ancestor came from. We pick up John Malone
in 1768 in Bucks County
Penn. when he joined a Quaker Meeting. His parents were Patrick & Hannah
Malone and they had other
grown children,James & Sarah. His will was probated in 1788. We do not knwo
where Patrick & Hannah
came from. I found where a Patrick Malone came to Nova Scotia in 1749.
Anyone researchd Nova Scotia in
that period or can tell me where to look, I would appreciated it. I am just
starting in genealogy. Thanks
Don Malone

First, you would do better to post to a live group. This group was
officially sent to the great web in the sky many years ago (it was getting
too big and was therefore split), but continues to haunt a few servers.
However, most people can't get it, so your message is not being seen by many
people. For N.America (including Canada) the most appropriate group would be
soc.genealogy.misc. If you manage to trace your folk across the pond,
soc.genealogy.britain or soc.genealogy.ireland will be useful.
I also suggest that you have a wander round Cyndi's List
http://www.cyndislist.com/ You may find info on passenger lists there.
There is also a Nova Scotia mailing list here
http://lists.rootsweb.com/index/intl/CAN/NOVA-SCOTIA.html I haven't used
it, but judging by the numbers of messages in its archives, it's pretty
active.
Do remember that "Malone" is not an especially rare name in Ireland, and
that a LOT of men were called Patrick.
