Hello from Slovenia!
I looked in the tel. directory and found 20 Sabols in Slovenia. However,
it doesn't sound very Slavic to me. More Hungarian. I know people with
Szabo surname what is Hungarian and maybe it is Slavicized as Sabol.
Some other oppinions?
Regards,
Mojmir
The name sounds like it could be a variation of the Hungarian Szabo
which means Taylor in Hung. It would be pronounced Sabo in English.
As you probably know much of "Yugoslavia" was part of Hungary in
history. Many ethnic Hungarians became Slavisized and visa versa!

Does your father's death cert. give any clues? If he was in the military,
some info will probably be there. Social security may be a help, also.

Sabol is quite a common surname in Slovakia, I guess it might be of Czech or Slovak origin.
By the way, I have contacts with Ms Sabolova (suffix -ova indicates feminine surname).
