I searched Ancestry.com and was unable to find them in the 1900 census
and none of the Public Member Trees that had this family have any record
for them in the 1900 census.

If you could find any records on their youngest child Virginia M. Harper
born about 1900 you might be able to find where they were located.

They're mistakenly listed under "Casper" in Jumping Branch, Summers
Co., WV. Try searching pilot.familysearch for Elvira Casper born 1895
+ or - 1 year.

Another "I can't read the original, so I'll make a guess" error,
although I would have guessed the name as 'Carper' from the original
document.

-------------------------------------------------

Elvira Casper
Home in 1900: Jumping Branch, Summers, West Virginia
Age: 5
Birth Date: Jul 1894

William T Casper 45
Jane Casper 45
Ashburton Casper 20
Leander Casper 18
Lucinda Casper 16
William G Casper 14
Kyle D Casper 12
Wilton Casper 9
Elvira Casper 5
Hubert Casper 3
Virgila May Casper 2/12

-------------------------------

I think the youngest is listed as Virginia in another census.

I didn't find /any/ Elvira b 1895 ... or a Kyle or a Jane
... but then again, sometimes after it reports Not Found
everything after that is also Not Found including John Smith
until I go off-site and come back. Thanks.

I too see CARPER, but then I'm familiar with a Carper family. :(

The first letter looks like nothing else on the page either
-- not like the H in Hubert in the same family, and not like
the C in Charles or the one in Cecil on the next page, and
NOT like the H on that page either!

If you could read what month ol' William T was born, you're
better'n I am!

They are probably in Summers County, cuz that's where Virgilia was
born in 1900, per familysearch's cite of West Virginia Births,
1853-1930. At least that's a clue, since William and Jane are
associated with Virgilia May in other familysearch hits including the
1910 Census. HTH

Ya welcome. It was fun doing the search, whether or not it's the
right information.

Sorry, I've been run off my feet this week!

I might've guessed one of 'em would go and have a birth
record! I don't have much luck with those on this line. :(

As for whether it's right -- I'm going with, it smells like
a duck, walks like duck, looks like a duck, maybe it ISN't a
chicken.
