I learned something new this weekend, and that is in some census ie
1810 you can not rely on the official form to know what is in the
census. The 1810 census official form has several columns that
enumerate the members of the household. ie <10, 10 to 15, etc.

However some counties added additional column to collect information
about the county. In that 1810 census, Broome County New York added
columns for the yards of wool and flax and their prices, the number
of horse, the number of horned cattle, etc.

To find the headings of these additional columns you must page back
through the census until you find the nearest one that is identify.

If I am late in the game and telling everyone what everyone else
already knew, forgive me. If you did not know, it is very
interesting information.

There are official census blank forms available, or there were 15
years ago.

And for any who might not have noticed 10 to 15 means exactly that -
age 15 is in the next group, ad infinitum.
