Mother: Anna Bathory (don't know her maiden name)
Father: Gyorgy Bathory
Sisters: Anichka and Shandra Bathory
Cousin(?): Prime Minister Gyorgy Thurzo
Brother: Stephen Bathory
Aunt: Klara Bathory (don't know which side)
Uncle: Gabor Bathory (again, don't know which side, only that he was nuts)
Cousin(?): Stephen Bathory (King of Poland?)
(Plus her own family, including her husband, mother-in-law, children)
I hear that she also may have been indirectly related to Vlad Dracul. Any-
way, if you have any info on her, please email me so we can chat over
email. I also have a list of non-fictional (rl) characters that I may
need the geneology of.
THANKS!!!

> Looking for info on the geneology/relatives, etc...of Erszebet
>(Elisabeth) Bathory, the Bloody Countess of Hungary. She was born
>on August 7, 1560 and died on August 21, 1614. This info is my research
>for something I'm writing, so...this is what I know sofar:
A genealogy of the Bathori family appears in *Europaeische
Stammtafeln*, ed. Detlev Schwennicke, Band III, Teilband 3 [Marburg:
Stargardt, 1985], Tafeln 599a, 599b, and 600. You can find Erszebet
towards the bottom of Tafel 600, on the right.
>Mother: Anna Bathory (don't know her maiden name)
Her maiden name was Anna Bathori, and she's last on record in 1570.
You'll find her on Tafel 599b. Gyorgy (below), Erszebet's father, was
her sixth cousin (patrilineally) and the third of her three husbands.
>Father: Gyorgy Bathory
Also last on record in 1570. He was buried at Varanno.
>Sisters: Anichka and Shandra Bathory
These appear to be nicknames, as her sisters were actually Zsofia (d.
after 1605 unmarried) and Klara (also d. after 1605, married Mihaly
Warday.
>Cousin(?): Prime Minister Gyorgy Thurzo
He was actually Palatine of Hungary. If you want to modernize that to
"Prime Minister", go ahead. He was born in 1567 and died in 1616.
There's a genealogy of the Thurzos in Wittig's *Niederoesterreisch-
isches Laendstaendige Adel*, and I don't see any obvious shared
descent, though Erszebet's father's brother Andras married as his
first wife Anna Thurzo who was a first cousin of Gyorgy's grandfather.
>Brother: Stephen Bathory
died at Ecsed on 25 July 1605, leaving no children by his wife
Fruszina Drugeth, though by an unknown mistress he had a bastard son
named Pal.
>Aunt: Klara Bathory (don't know which side)
Erszebet's father's sister was a Klara. She married four times.
>Uncle: Gabor Bathory (again, don't know which side, only that he was nuts)
No *uncle* (brother or brother-in-law of a parent), but she had a
first cousin (mother's brother's son) named Gabor Bathori. He died in
1586, and this Gabor's nephew, another Gabor Bathori (Erszebet's first
cousin once removed), was Prince of Transylvania and was murdered in
1613.
>Cousin(?): Stephen Bathory (King of Poland?)
Uncle, actually. Brother of her mother. Died in 1585.
>(Plus her own family, including her husband, mother-in-law, children)
Her husband was Ferenc Nadasdy, son of Tamas Nadasdy and Ursula
Kanisa. I don't have the names of all of her children, but her son
Pal is the ancestor of the current Counts Nadasdy.
>I hear that she also may have been indirectly related to Vlad Dracul.
For Vlad Dracul, see Schwennicke's *Europaeische Stammtafeln* (above),
Band III, Teilband 1, Tafel 194. His son, Vlad Tepes, was the
historical original for Dracula. I don't see any obvious connections.
