Dear Newsgroup ~
Complete Peerage 6 (1926): 79–80 (sub Grane), and 12(2) (1959): 846–
850 (sub Worcester) indicates that [Lord] Leonard Grey, Viscount Grane
(executed 28 July 1541) married [as his 2nd wife] Eleanor Sutton,
Countess of Worcester, widow of Sir Charles Herbert (died 15 April
1526), 1st Earl of Worcester, Lord Herbert. No date is given for the
marriage.
Mayer & Walters, Correspondence of Reginald Pole 4 (2008): 376
indicates that Leonard Gray and Eleanor, countess of Worcester,
presented Thomas Mumford as rector of Lincoln, All Saints Aldwick, on
27 June 1527, "by grant from her late husband, Charles, earl of
Worcester."
The source given for this information is: Lincolnshire Record Office,
Epis. reg. 27, fo. 114r.
Thus, it would appear that [Lord] Leonard Grey and Eleanor Sutton,
Countess of Worcester, were married before 27 June 1527. This couple
had no issue. [Lord] Leonard Grey was 6th but 2nd surviving son of
Thomas Grey, K.G., K.B., 1st Marquess of Dorset, Lord Ferrers of
Groby, Harington, Bonville, and Astley, by his 2nd wife, Cecily, suo
jure Lady Harington and Bonville, daughter of William Bonville, Knt.,
6th Lord Harington. As such, [Lord] Leonard Grey was near related to
his contemporary monarch, King Henry VIII of England.
Best always, Douglas Richardson, Salt Lake City, Utah
