I posted to this list about this connection back in January 1996, but
it looks like I'll have to post again.
William Mullins (number 14, above), in the administration of his
estate, is described as "late of Dorking in the County of Surrey". The
parish registers of Dorking show a John Mullyn marrying a Joane Bridger
in 1571 and the baptism of Edward Mullyns son of John in 1582. There's
no mention at all of a William Mullins in the parish registers of
Dorking, and for that matter there's no evidence that the description
in the administration refers to where he was born -- it might have
been where he was living just before he sailed to the New World.
In other words, what is claimed, above, to be the ancestry of Priscilla
Mullins is based on a connection which appears to have been invented to
provide a noble ancestry for a Mayflower passenger.
I'm not saying the descent is wrong, I'm just saying that Mr. Green
hasn't proved his case that these Molyneuxes have anything to do with
the Mullinses of Plymouth. Mr. Green may not know these details, and
just took the Molyneux-Mullins descent from one of the many books
which present the line as if it was valid.

evidence (and lack of evidence) about its origin, see Leon Clark Hills,
*History and genealogy of the Mayflower planters and first comers to
ye olde colonie*, vol. II, pp. 213-215. This was reprinted in one
volume by Genealogical Publishing Co. in Baltimore in 1975.
