Has anyone carried out research into the Medieval Danseys?
They appear to have originated in Dauntsey, Wiltshire, England,
and to have then moved to Herefordshire around 1400, although
there is much evidence of Danseys in Herefordshire in the early 13th
century.

Other branches of the family have different spelling of the name including
Dancy,
Dansie, Dauntsey, Dauntseye, etc., but I am mainly interested in
Dansey/Daunsey/
Dauntsey, which seems to have been the Herefordshire branch, and their
ancestry.

Kevin,

Am curious as to how the Danseys of Herefordshire are alleged to descend
from the Dauntsey's of Wiltshire. John Dauntsey d. 1395 and his wife Joan de
Bavent had a son John d. Jan. 1405 who m. Elizabeth Beverley and they in
turn had only two children, Walter d.s.p. 1420 and Joan who carried Dauntsey
into the Stradling family by marriage. Thanks.
